GS550 Timing Chain

New to me 82 GS550MZ (baby katana). Pretty good shape for spending years out in the weather. Of course compression check (carbs off) shows top end will need to come apart. Engine has 30k miles, can anyone give me an idea what the service life limit on cam chain normally is? Also is there a good source for a new cam chain for a split and rivet replacement? Have downloaded a service manual, but almost unusable on my phone and can't move manual to laptop right now. Thanks in advance.

If the cam chain isn't rusty, you can measure the spec. 30,000 miles should be no wear

on your laptop, go to Gsarchive.bwringer.com and get a factory manual and other helpful info
