Front brake light switch - FIXED - no help required now!

Help - I get confused by the front brake light switch - plastic piece with the copper end.

HTF does it work? I remember asking this before and having to do a drawing. I know its really easy but I don't know which way to put it in.

Going nuts (how can I be this thick - can rebuild an engine but cant work out how to put this stupid little thing in. Searched everywhere but cannot find my original post on either board explaining how to

Its this thing. Does it sit vertically or horizontal?
