Its an Air Cooled Engine
other pipes "it's most likely an aftermarket fitting" are for an oil cooler unless US models had one as standard
This is an after market part for an oil cooler. Stock is just a plate w/switch. I have both. My oil cooler kit came with a Lockart thermostat.

I know this is a dated post but my experience:
I put a 2002 GSXR750 swingarm on my GS750. Simple swing arm bushings allowed for this install. However, if you go a wider rear wheel with the GS750 engine, you'll run into chain issues. A GS1000 or a Katana GSX750 engine will solve that issue.
Pic below - stock GS750 bolt - then stock GSXR bushing and the replacement bushings.

Not a true daily driver but would be a fun "I'm gonna die" motorcycle :-)

Ok... so let's talk about the 2nd GS750 - however it was the first one I purchased.
77 GS750 frame and a GS450? fuel tank. Original 750 engine was bored to 850 but a cam cap ripped the bolts out. Long story, no need for it now.
95 Katana GSX750F engine, wiring harness, coils. Unknown exhaust. Ram Air filters.
2002 GSXR750 suspension although the rear is strutted.
This bike is amazing and still being tuned. Will be painted soon.
If you have questions about either swaps, I should have the answers. These were both being built over the last few years with engines bouncing around from frame to frame. Did have the GS750 engine (bored to 850) installed in the yellow 750 after fixing, but the rings collapsed and I set it aside (all new clutch stuff and fresh cylinder head if anyone's interested) and then installed the 1000 mill. This is how I went looking for a replacement engine for this bike and found the GSX750F... I have a GS550 that is getting merged with the leftover Katana parts... engine needed here LOL

Yes, I am a newbie and am showing my builds.
1977 GS 750 frame. This was just a frame in Feb. 2023. All stock or close to it. Paint is rattle can and looks fair to good. Subtle upgrades throughout including all LED bulbs, charging system and brand new Shinko 712's.
1978 GS1000. Unknown exhaust with Supertrapp insert. Kawasaki single screw VM26's with air correctors for pod filters. Yes, they are installed. Yes, that is the "factory" air box but No, it isn't a "stock" air box. Katana style coils and after market ignition plate.
I have x2 GS750's

77 GS750 frame
95 Katana 750 engine - was a 78 GS1000 engine but that's in my 77 GS710
2002 GSXR suspension and shocks.
zero frame alterations to get the suspension installed. All Balls steer bearing kit helped with the triple tree. The rear has a strut instead of a shock although it has been installed and ridden with it.
I modified the engine mounts in the rear for the Kat engine obviously. I
$50 bushing for the swing arm and I used the stock swing arm pivot bolt.
moved the sprocket on the Kat out by 3/16" (the GS1000 engine needed a 5/8" offset sprocket)
wheel base is almost the same length as I had measured it at one time.
As of my last test... it's fast and fun and street legal.
If you run the VM26's make sure you get the air correctors for the pods.
OE air box as found on my GS710
