Yes, it was easy enought.  I used clamp and nail (you should cut off the sharp edge, becouse nail should push on the centre of upper ball).  And i put the nut between clamp and lower ball (еру lower ball will go inside the nut). Press out slowly so as not to damage the float chamber. it will be also good to drop a little oil on the lower ball.

Replace the spring, and press the ball back (dont forget the order: upper ball - spring  -lower ball). The ball is tight enought and there is no leaks.

Oldschool "charm" is good, but better when oil and petrol inside))

Were you able to buy a genuine replacement spring? or did you have to find something similar?

    thanks!

Do you mean an 1100 or a 750 slabby? An 1100 slabby only has one throttle cable as stock, obviously the opener, and relied on the butterfly return springs on the stock CV carbs to close. You can buy adjusters and other cable stiff from Venhill so it should be possible to modify your cables to work as opener/closer push/pull correctly, but try switching them round first. I have found that cables from other bikes work OK for the opener cable, but the close cable is often incorrect, ususally the inner is too long (but these can be shortened).

    Hi Dezza,

Thanks for the reply. its a 750 H. Think I might have found out whats wrong - someone has drilled out the thread in the plate in the RS36 Carbs at some point. Should be able to get around it by slotting a nut and adding it to the push cable. Ive have a quick look this morning and i think there is enough adjustment left on the cable to allow me to fit the nut on the back of the plate on the carb.

Failing that, as you say i will post it of to venhill and get a longer threaded part put on the end of it with two locking nuts like the pull cable has :tu

  3. Don't mean to jump in on this, but i am running a set of RS36's on my slabbie too. having pulled the carbs off last week to give them a clean I have noticed the push cable was just cable tied to the pull cable, rather than fixed to the bracket with the lock nuts.

On closer inspection it seems the push cable has the correct part number (for a standard Slabbie) but it only has one nut on the adjuster and a shorter threaded section than the pull cable. If the threaded section was 10mm longer and had a second nut, i could mount it the the carb plate properly.

Can anyone tell me if they have had the same issues or perhaps my cable is a copy with the wrong bit on the end!?

Picture attached for comparison (push cable in question is to the left)

    Cheers!

  4. Quick update for anyone wanting to do the same, Talon have got back to me just now with good news.

They hold a 42T aluminium sprocket in gold  :tu

Turns out is an early SV650 made to 520 guage for the mini twins race series.  42T, 520 Gauge, PCD 110mm, 5 stud, 87mm inside hole diameter.

approx £30 delivered. Will confirm it all fits when it arrives

  5. Not sure I would trust anyone with that. Seems like the JT steel sprocket code JTR823 is correct in everry way except only comes in 41, 45 and 46T. Hope Talon will come back to me this week with some options which aren't too expensive!

Sprocket blanks are available in all sizes so if you or someone you can trust can get the holes the right size and in the right place then the world is your spider crab (more interesting than lobstersO.o).

  6. Maybe its just because they look trick? :tu

Potentially a stupid question, but does anyone know what type of screws are used to fix these to the fairing? I have had one of the clear headlight covers for ages, and need 4 longer screws to replace the short ones that hold the headlight surround on!

  7. Hi All,

Have had a good rummage through past posts here and cant find the answer so here goes...

Ive got and '87 slabbie with a metmachex swingarm, CMA wheels and what looks like a modified standard slabbie sprocket carrier. Its always run 530 chain and sprockets but i would like to change this to a 520.

My question is, has anyone got any info on 520 rear sprockets which fit? Or is it a case of going to Talon engineering for a one off? Ive got a 13T 520 front which fits.

the rear sprocket I have removed is as follows:

    42T, 530 Gauge, PCD 110mm, 5 stud, 87mm inside hole diameter.

    Many thanks!
