  1. Hi Guys

Got a bit of a problem with my GS1000 engine wonder if anyone can give me a bit of advise

When the motor starts to warm up I get a lot of smoke coming from the engine breather on top of the rocker cover.

and it seem to be pressurising the crankcase pushing some oil out via the cylinder base gasket

I am thinking piston rings done a compression test and the cylinders all seem ok pressure wise

I am in the process of starting to strip the engine to check the piston rings and probably replace but if anyone has any other suggestions I would be grateful

    for your knowledge

    thanks in advance

    Cheers

    Russ

  2. If you have a good spark it sounds to me as if its a fuel problem, will it fire if you spray easy start (you can still get easy start from most motor factors) into the carb inlets if it does then I would guess its a fuel problem worth a try

  4. Wonder if anyone could help me with some information

I have a GS1000 with Wiseco 73mm pistons could anybody tell me what the Cylinder PSI should be with these pistons

I have checked in the manual for normal pistons and it states between 130 to 180 PSI

At present my bike is between 110 and 130 PSI which I think maybe to low

be grateful if anyone can let me know

    Thanks Russ

  5. I had this problem with my GS1000 you have to remove the head studs I kept putting penertrating oil down the studs and tapping them to loosen the crud around the studs.

I managed to remove them all in the end with the help of a bit of heat but it took about 10 days in the end I had to replace a few of the studs as they were a bit damaged but at one point I didn't think it was going to move but it came away in the end l Hope this helps all the best
