can i ask what gains you will get from it ?
not much to be honest. yes it is lighter but i doubt i will notice any difference with that. it is a far better caliper than the old gsxr caliper so the brake performance will be better, plus i think it looks much better, in myy opinion anyway.

ok, so an update on the rear caliper.I gave up trying to find a better underslung caliper so decided to go with a top mounted version, but lighter and better.
After much research and investigation i opted for a 2006 H*nda CBR600 rear caliper. Modified the hanger bracket to fit the slot in the swingarm and made a couple of spacers for the axle and hey presto, looks better, (i think), lighter than the other one and feels much better, although i havent ridden it yet. Smaller 220mm disc also sheds a few grams.

Its not there just for sound deadening, its also there to absorb the impact should your chain, and or front sprocket decides to break and try and smash its way through the cover. A snapped chain will potentially smash a big hole in the crankcase.

Yes very much like that, but i want to keep it underslung at the bottom of the disc, rather than on top.

Thanks for the info Wraith. my caliper does not have the torque arm, the bracket fits in a slot in the swingarm. i want to keep it underslung as it is.
I suppose i could always just machine off the lug on the caliper for the torque arm.
I will have to measure the diameter of the disc, i cant remember what it is offhand.

3 bolts holding the starter clutch to the starter gear, they work loose. you have to pull it off to check it

what else are you doing to beef up the motor? crank and clutch will need beefing up at least, running 740cc on a stock 550 crank is not adviseable.

you gs boys have it good, bloody guillari seats for katanas seem to come in the opposite of henry fords reccomendation, any colour you like so long as its not black. ive seen red, white, silver, blue and multi coloured versions, but the one think ive not seen is a solid black, no poncy badges and flashes plain seat. ive got one, but its got white piping on it and red lettering, very very 1980's.
had mine recovered in black suede.

Hi Daryl, welcome to the site.

I am looking at fitting an aircraft type filler cap to an 1100ET tank, any recommendations as to what cap to use? I want a locking cap preferably. TIA
-
having the studs in also helps guide everything into place when fitting the front wheel. Assemble the wheel with the spindle, speedo drive and all the spacers and just guide it into place, locate the bottom caps and catch the nuts on the studs. line it all up and tighten up, spindle nut last, of course.
-
there are spacers, #7 and #8 in the diagram above. they sit in the bottom fork clamps and double up as lateral spacers for the wheel.

the little one, 19 litre unfortunately.

Yayyyyy, found an ET tank. Its an import but in great shape and a reasonable price.........

Sorry to hijack the thread but i too am planning on fitting a set of RS34's. I have a head from a 81 GS1000G so it has the bigger inlet ports but what inlet rubbers do i need to get for the RS34's? Is it standard GS1000 rubbers or from something different?
TIA
