BST 38's

Yes, the taper end goes in first.

I have 2 sets of needles, the first fat blunt set have no markings & IMO are DJ. These are not worn.

The 2nd set are more pointy, have badly worn at the spring end & do have markings on them which equates to a U.S. (Not Cali) needle.

So i think these are std, but are fitted in DJ jets & with 102 mains which are also DJ As per photo below.  It also had 2x2 springs, first 2 having a green tint, the others plain?

This seriously has me baffled & i have ordered a full set of Emulsions, needles, & just about every part that fits inside the carbs for the BST40's as they don't do a BST38 kit.

I would imagine virtually all the internals are the same, & once dyno'd then the poss differences between emulsions, needles & jets can be balanced out.

Sorry to come late to the party but I had the same issues.

Hi everybody,

I've never started a new topic, so please feel free to take the pi$$.

I'm trying to fit a set 38mm Mikuni carbs to my Sladsibe 1100

So I thought I'd get them a set of new emulsion tubes from Robinsons.

However, when they arrived, they are completely different to the originals.

The originals have a series of holes down the sides (like every other set I've seen).

The new ones are solid tubes.

Also the holes down the centre are tiny compared to the originals.

The needles don't fit down them.

I contacted Robinsons to check, & the part numbers check out, but they are looking into it.

The carbs were suppose to be off a standard GSXR 750 with airbox.

Anyone any ideas ?

This was the only way to find the thread.

Don’t know if this helps.

I fixed it with this kit

I had a set of 38s & 40s & This kit fits both sets of carbs.

I’m a bit sketchy of the exact details but I think it was like this,

I didn’t know if the 38s were good but if I fitted it to the 38s first & they were duff, I could swop it to the 40s which I knew were good. I don’t think it works, 40s first & then move down to the 38s. I worked it out from DJ’s website.

Point is you get emulsion tubes & matching needles as well as everything else, again the contents are listed on DJ’s site.

On the 38s, it goes great, just wish I’d tried it on the 40s, hope this helps.
