K8 Swingarm 1100K Frame

I've fitted k7 arm into 750m. Used stock shock with remote resovior, as k7 shock was to big to fit under my (battery box) My design so bare that in mind, You can go the Oem k7 linkage route but it's a compromise for linkage to 750 m or k1100 frame. 

I cut the 750 m top dogbone mount off and welded it to k7 arm to get geometry same as Oem, that way it all works as before and all linkages are correct. 

We tried to use many other linkages with hardly any success, due to restricted movement/travel say 2" or such .New top hat bushes for k7 arm to take slingshot spindle need to made from high carbon steel as mild steel just galls up and fails.Check out my build thread from here!

I am working on a kit to mount a 2005-08 GSXR1000 6.00" rear wheel to the stock GSXR1100 swing arm...

On my 1989 GSXR1100 I am mounting a 2008 GSXR1000 swing arm. I am going to use the 2008 GSXR1000 linkage and shock mount location... This is a work in progress. Still working on the swing arm pivot spacers.

The K8 1000 lends itself well for a slingshot swingarm conversion. Sort out the spacers keeping wheel alignment in mind. I found the shock mount had to be spaced out and raised so shock sit more vertical. This also closely replicates the K8 angles of shock, dog bones and knuckle. Rear sprocket carrier needs to be machined and also need an offset front sprocket. I'm running a 520 chain and found that a 2002 Gurls blouse XR650R works well

Curious to see what numbers you got to machine your rear sprocket carrier down... My engine is off the bike to measure it right now, but I can move the sprocket mounting surface up to 5 mm in towards the center of the wheel 
 
And, what do you mean a 2002 Girls Blouse XR650R works well?

I’d like to know how this one turned out, I’m trying to fit a k7 arm in a 1991 gsxr11 myself..

It’s part number JTF1307 for XR650X and ZX6R 98-02 and looks to be an extra 4mm offset, could just work on my 1100k with K1 swingarm conversion as chain rubs arm centre brace, if I convert to 520?

That is an interesting sprocket fitment. Is it offset or just really thick where it goes on the splines?

 

Unless the side plates/o'rings are thinner than those on your 530 chain, changing to a 520 will not affect the clearance on the inner edge of the chain run. A smaller chain width will only affect the outer edge, i.e. give you more chain to inner frame rail, clearance. To get more clearance using a 520 you can use a race spec non-o'ring chain, space out your sprockets slightly or grind out a clearance groove in the swingarm etc. depending on what is appropriate.

Just measured the standard 530 front sprocket and it is 8.5 mm thick with no offset, so my thoughts are that the XR650 one (at 13.6mm) may just give me the 5mm clearance I think I require for chain clearance, will obviously space out the rear sprocket to match. I was considering 520 conversion anyway?

Yes, sounds like it could work. Is there enough length on the output shaft though to safely attached the thicker XR sprocket? I know there is a bit of leeway on 1100/1200 engines but i have no experience of the 750s (my guess is the splines are the same though).

Mines an 1127 89K, so should be ok, ordered today off chainandsprocketsuk 14 front and 1100k 48 rear, free postage and 10% voucher code, result!  Will post result once fitted. Can you recommend a good 520 chain, as there seems a lot of cheaper stuff about?
