Final touches.... Got my radial master cylinder on, and brakes feel better. But I think one of theses days it will get higher quality calipers. Also got a spare tool box for the tail, so I could cut into in and fit in my Zeel ignition...and save my original box when originality has more importance than HP...

It feels better than the original master....I have one on my RS250, and the feel is incredible....I can bring the back up easily with my pinky finger....But I'm using Brembo 4 pad calipers on it which probably makes a big difference.

I also realized that the calipers I just bought have smaller bolts going through. The bolt mounting area looks too small to drill and retap larger, and still have enough metal left to be safe....or sleeve down the bolt holes in the fork..?

Or just leave the damn thing alone now, and ride it O.o

Finally got my front brakes taken care of to my satisfaction. I bought a pair of 2001 GSXR750 calipers with same bolt spacing. Then drilled and tapped the holes the next size up for the RGV forks and bolts....with a some thin spacers to center the calipers to the rotors.

Lever feel is 200% better than it ever has been before, so hopefully they will feel better on the road too......snow on the ground outside the garage.

Been adding a few hundred kilometers a year to the VJ23, and I still love the bike. The only real problem was that when Covid hit….Suzuki basically stopped producing any spares for the bike. So using it as designed, can be somewhat worrisome as two strokes are known to be finicky at times. 
Luckily a company in Japan has started making piston kits for it, so I jumped on a set, for that worst case scenario.

Look just like Suzuki pistons, so I think I feel safe riding it however I want still :pimp:

Great thread mate, big RGV fan here, they remind me of my days on licence restrictions. My favourite has always been the VJ22 but have always been fascinated by the VJ23. They're as rare as rocking horse shit here in Australia but I was occasionally asked for parts for them when working in spares. Not an easy task to acquire them but we could still get some parts. Some big changes in spares happened over covid, especially for the older bikes which is a bit disappointing. Good to see you can get pistons, the VJ22 OEM pistons have been discontinued for a long time which used to piss our customer off when they found out when doing rebuilds.

I have massive shed envy, when I saw you were moving I lost that envy temporaily, that's a heap of stuff to move. 

I hope the lockwire inspecting anoraks don't come knocking, you're in trouble. ;)

Two weeks off work for Christmas shut down.
Go back to work Monday…..and realized I really had not got much of anything done with all my free time.
One project that I had been putting off for a few years now, is changing the plugs for my wiring harness on my Zeeltronic ignition box for my VJ23. When I got my ignition years back, the basic idea was to cut up the factory harness and wire it in…. Not my style. But a few RGV guys were taking old SAPC/factory ignition boxes and cutting them apart for the harness connectors. Then soldering in the Zeel to that. A serious pain int the ass, but that is what I did…and it worked, but looked ugly.
Then a couple years ago a guy designed some connectors with a 3D printer, and I managed to grab an extra set for the 23.
But since the bike worked perfectly fine, I had a hard time talking myself into cutting up all my previous work, and rewiring those 21 separate wires again into the right spot.

Hi i have restricted pipes from a VJ23, and according to this site:

"The exhausts have collars welded in the necks which when ground out make them exactly the same as the de-restricted ones. "

now im not exactly sure what is meant with "collar", but it seems like it is this inner ring right at the beginning of the pipe? its about 31mm wide, ive checked with a jolly moto and they have 38mm inner diameter. can anyone confirm it is this ring that i have to remove for de-restricting?
