Carbs again, took the carbs of but couldn't find any dirt in them but fitted some 40 pilot to replace the 37.5 ones then I noticed one of the carb to plenum rubbers wasn't seated correctly. Must have happened when I fitted the bigger 140 main jets. Put it all back together and went for a test ride and what ya know problem fixed  Clutch is now slipping a bit when I gun it hard just for a split second so the lock-up clutch wants some more weight on the arms. What a Tool this thing is to ride :D :DIMG_20220706_165348.thumb.jpg.d26328d0b9e4c5c044cd21aadd0c4e1f.jpg IMG_20220706_165645.thumb.jpg.09ee895e652d264b8c112eaa881f43a5.jpg IMG_20220706_165816.thumb.jpg.0935e6e36458c0c0e98fa13e18d34d0c.jpg IMG_20220706_172434.thumb.jpg.021409307ab203887d4dfad592bd3d6f.jpg IMG_20220706_183330.thumb.jpg.04e8a2315e32c7fb0ee2f4ec6342a827.jpg

Clutch, removed the bolts from the lock-up clutch arms and added some 5mm longer ones with an extra nut on each on instead of the 2 washers. Went for a 96 mile spin involving Whitby bike night clutch did slip ones in 3rd gear coming onto boost hard out of a corner bun only a tiny bit. IMG_20220707_151422.thumb.jpg.843a84c8d8bf212e8e60be6967b29c32.jpg IMG_20220707_154555.thumb.jpg.b70a4386e75591d340f689fac6df370f.jpg IMG_20220707_155015.thumb.jpg.7b091cb84bb75edde94480b9f6329036.jpg IMG_20220707_184221.thumb.jpg.27d5b00870b8901623c3cea5050f3588.jpg IMG_20220707_173610.thumb.jpg.9c7dae44e54d38ddbcb7fd7acda7aefc.jpg

Front wheel must be made of lead…

Thats not how I expect that bike with that engine to leave bike night (i.e- for clarity- on both wheels).

Picture was on the way in lol. It will sit on the back wheel in every gear just with accelerate coming on boost 9_9

Few teething problems, went to start bike last night and it just went click, click every time I pressed the go button. On further investigation the starter motor had shuck it's self loose. Had to take the carbs of to tighten the 2 bolts up so while the carbs were of I put the 37.5 pilot jets back in float height is 13.5mm mains 140 and 3 turns out on the mixture screws. Other day when accelerating hard at 145mp (when I glanced dow) it started to cough and splutter like petrol starvation. Turned out to be a slightly kinked fuel pipe to the fuel pump. Just re-routed it with a slightly longer pipe. Now done 457 miles on it so will see what happens next lol. IMG_20220711_163016.thumb.jpg.768d8dd0c605c28251983537b250b498.jpg IMG_20220711_162116.thumb.jpg.2ff0492f139075ec1788c62a476882f3.jpg IMG_20220711_164829.thumb.jpg.5980a19d5c7d033e01ee1836c03c2c81.jpg IMG_20220712_145651.thumb.jpg.6f5bdae0fa3f45b9a284506684a6ef05.jpg IMG_20220712_155133.thumb.jpg.26e98487fa29037d18746f9462869e83.jpg IMG_20220712_155055.thumb.jpg.10d1ab81ee510f4c627da6ccd71fab75.jpg IMG_20220712_161100.thumb.jpg.f31e71fdc87bab78e9b1afc4bf6f6647.jpg

;) there is always something to do on hard ridden old bikes !

I am amazed how you keep the tank stable on the bike, i always take off the two fuel hoses on my Harris, and then lift it off for working on the carbs.

Have you ever thought about trying EFI ?

From what i see, you seem to be a really good builder and analyze all problems really well (and consequently fix them), i really take my hat for that - it's what i also try to achieve: analyze/assume/attack the problem

I am quite a practical man, I look at the hole project as lots of small projects then join them together building the project up. Ones it's built that's just the start to having a practical road going fast well handling machine. I have some efi stuff I have been collecting for another project O.o but I cannot completely get my head round it yet but I can figure carburettors out sat in my shed given enough time. Bike is like new really just a few teething problems sharing build on hear might help some one else :tu
