Will a low battery some how spin the starter backwards ?

Can't spin backwards - the starter sprag is a one-way bearing. Can get low battery kick back - bounces off compression so seems backwards.

ditto what Ian said

also big block prone to kick back open throttle a tad as you spin it over...

starter clutch is the achlies heel of the air cooled motor

worth checking condition of rollers and springs also mr Suzuki san added a dowel to the 1135 starter but the dowel is to short so needs a ball bearing in the bottom

Turns out stater clutch was a little damaged I got Brian at Centurion Motorcycle Projects to fit one of his 20 pin conversions to the flywheel.

Might be of interest @Hoops

Including a perfect example of Suzuki,s error fitting the dowel on the EF its to short and works it way into the hole over time i always drop a ball-bearing in the hole

Brian's conversion eliminates it any-way

I was just looking at the centurion starter clutch’s yesterday, never heard of them before, but popped up on google after doing a starter clutch search,

I only slightly improved the starter clutch on my gs1000 by fitting new rollers and springs , looks like this could be the solution, think I’ll be going this route too
