oil return set up

Awdo chaps im hoping I've found my smoking issue.....my scavenge pump is a lower psi one 4to6 psi facet pump so ordered the higher pressure one. Now I've noticed that out of the breather pipe from the little reservoir goes all the way up to my catch tank on the side of my oilcooler. I've had fresh oil up into my catch tank , not breathed oil if you no what I mean. So I am thinking that my scavenge pump is not getting rid of the oil quick enough (for it to be coming out of the breather 18inch higher). It has got a non return valve between the res tank and my pump. Is this set up ok or is there a better set you guys can come up with. I ran it up on sunday and it started fine no smoke and ran fine blipping the throttle for a few minutes. Then started smoking .......which is leading to believe im not removing enough oil quick enough. Cheers chaps

Why use a 'higher' pressure pump? It doesn't need to build pressure - just flow a volume of 'waste' oil discharge. Although the pump may draw oil vertically, every time it empties the sump can it has to start again and the can vent won't help in that respect. Personally, I'd mount the pump down low / equal height to sump can so oil flow by gravity is constant and if you have a check valve, fit it AFTER the pump so pumped oil won't flow backwards after pump shut off. Sorry if reply seems naive - I have a crank driven mechanical pump so these electrical ones are alien to me LOL!

Because I've been told that its not  a big enough facet pump and it seems to not be returning quick enough

Could also try relocating the pump lower, just a thought.

Next to bottom engine mount ish ? Non Return valve before or after pump ?

Mount below the sump at the back right I have the none return value inline before the pump like most people have.

Any pics please mate

Why before pump? Most check valves have a crack pressure which holds oil back before pump but if placed after the pump will easily overcome the resistance & stop any backflow!

Mount it on the spare bolt holes on the underside of the frame. Twin exhaust used to bolt here.

think the issue is the suction side because pump is too high and doesnt work if not primed as clivegto said. Mount it as wee man suggests: low,  out of sight and still protected from debris
