Traz1132 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Hi guys and gals i have a quick one and was hoping to clear a few things up. I am turbo charging my bike (mk2) from a previously owned kit and im now at the point where i need to figure out how and where all the lines go, i have used the search function ( all be it poorly) and gotten myself a little confused at where everything goes, sounds stupid but im a visual see and do kind of learner. turbo is a VF29 internally wastegated , plenum has two spiggots out of the charge pipe (pitot) and that is it. ive gotten my best artitry on and drawn a lovely incomplete diagram in paint of what i think goes where and what im unsure of could someone have a gander and point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated im also worried that the pitot lines that attatch to the vents at the top of the carbs do we use the standard T-pice rubbers or is there another way we should be attaching them? my immediate thought is if they are used and just ziptied on wont they just pop off? Gixer1460 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Try this - I do drawings for a living, but words better in this instance! Fuel tank - fuel pump - Fuel reg - Carbs = correct although i'd put some filters in to protect pump and carbs. FPR signal line = goes to pitot tube. Carb float bowl vents = Pitot tube as they provide dynamic (quick response) pressure changes. Turbo Wastegate signal = Plenum or Inlet runner as it needs boost to open. Boost Guage = Plenum or inlet runner (obvs to see boost). BOV = Plenum or inlet runner as it needs vacuum to open. Some people use the pitot for everything but I would prefer that just to be used for control of fuel delivery / carb operation which really is critical! 1 Quote

Traz1132 Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 could i run wastegate, boost gauge and BOV from these otherwise capped ports? Quote
Gixer1460 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Technically yes but as those ports used to balance the carbs everything would require disconnection during that work! Don't take my words as gospel as I use FI so don't worry about pitots and such like! A knowledgeable adult will either confirm or blow me outta the pond! Quote
peter1127 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 yes, these are the only ports on the carbs with vacuum which is needed for bov and useful for gauge. I would combine them first with tees for a cleaner signal instead of using each port for a separate item. Removal for syncing is not a big deal. You could drill extra ports but I wouldnt bother. I would have 2 pitot tubes, each for a pair of carbs and not having anything else on them. No tees to combine them, both tubes equal length. Make sure those pitot tubes face incoming air out of the middle of the uppipe, and make them as equal in shape and position as you can. FPU can be on a separate spot in the uppipe or plenum. Wastegate I normally take from turbo compressor, they have a barb fitting for that purpose and it works fine. Cleaner/shorter tubing. Better use silicone tube and make sure you have clamps and make sure no kinks or touching the turbine housing. If this tube fails you will get the maximum boost the turbo/wastegate can generate. Use a FPU for carbs like a malpassi, make sure your needle and seats are mint. Check function and fuel level on the bench with a dummy setup with carbs angled like in the bike, otherwise you blow a gallon of fuel in the engine if you get it wrong. You can check this as well https://oldskoolsuzuki.info/archives/396 1 Quote
