Help with led bulbs in indicators

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I’ve just installed led bulbs in the indicators then blew up the standard relay so I bought an adjustable relay although the pins match the original the only way I can get it to work is to plug it in as normal (like that they don’t work) then to attach to the E pin (C pin on original) and the other end to earth on the bike and then you can get the indicators to work and adjust the speed. To tidy it up I attached a jumper cable to the appropriate cables (the E pin on the plug to an earth terminal on the same plug) on the flasher unit; my question is will this harm the electrics or will it be ok?

There are kits that involve sand block resistors to take up the extra voltage and convert it to heat.  What a pain in the arse.  I ended up doing it, as I replaced the signal lights with really nice looking and bright small ones, but it was a P.I.T.A. but doable.   Mine work, and I only needed a sand block resistor on each side.  Look for a kit.  :)
