VIN decoder for a JDM GSX-R750F

Hi guys, quick question...

One of my '85 model 750F has been registered by DVLA as Declared Manufactured 1986 on the logbook, but it's deffo an '85 model and it's also been given a C registration.

My question is this, from the VIN number GR71F1038## is there a definitive way of getting a build date for what I think is a Jap import? 

I've spoken to a few Suzuki dealers and as soon as you mention grey import they don't have records.

But if you want a dating letter / certificate they charge £75 now

Why does it matter? Will it make it more valuable or desirable if it wore a 'B' plate? Could have been built in '85 and sold in '86 so a 'C' plate would still be valid! DVLA aren't exactly big on minute details!

I wouldn’t bother my 87 H is on an E plate the V5 thinks the model code makes it a slingshot back in the day when you could speak to the DVLA I spoke to a most unhelpful person who couldn’t care less about the wrong model code they said it’s registered in 88 so what’s the problem I laughed and put the phone down

The only advantage I can see would be getting the bike eligible to be classified as 'historic' a bit earlier than it can at present. Doesn't seem like it's worth  any DVLA-type hassle to me .
