Gsx1100er Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 (edited) The Ole girl needs a new chain ( 630 variety ) and I quite fancy a gold jobbie. Struggling to find one on the usual place, does anyone have a "go to " place for chains that could supply a unit. Sprockets are OK just a chain. Edited October 7, 2025 by Gsx1100er Quote
simesman Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 You can get Niche gold 630 chain from Amazon. Just put one on the GS1000 and they appear to look OK quality. Quote
Gsx1100er Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 Thanks for that , I'll take look Quote
bluedog59 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 (edited) Why not go down in chain size ? Ok, you'll have to buy new sprockets but you'll notice the difference of not having a heavy 630 whizzing round. Edited October 8, 2025 by bluedog59 Typo Quote
Gsx1100er Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 yeah I get your point but I would need to find an EFE offset 530 front sprocket ( Slingshot 1100 rear end fitted ). Bit more pratting about than I thought. Quote
Sheep Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 (edited) A little research on JS sprockets website and you should find something suitable..that's what I did..im using a 530 with JT front and Talon rear. (Also using Gsxr arm) Edited October 8, 2025 by Sheep Quote

Duckndive Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 If your only dropping a chain size " a few mm in width" you shouldn't need an offset sprocket Maybe just a slightly longer spacer on output shaft 1 Quote
Dezza Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 Regina used to do a good 630 in gold. I think I have one hanging up in my garage somewhere but it will be too short for an EFE and needs a joining link. 630s do look period cool, like something used to moor the Titanic . 2 Quote

Well this is Old Skool after all and the bike weighs nearly as much as the ship so maybe a 630 after all 1 Quote
Suzukian Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 (edited) You could just set it up with a Hyvo Chain. You'd need to manufacture new sprockets, but it would be the bomb! Edited October 9, 2025 by Suzukian Quote

Bit more pratting about than I thought. I did a 530 conversion on my EFE about 2 years ago. I also use an early Slingshot 4.5" rear wheel. I ended up with a 120 link 530 chain ( suggest getting 124 Iink and cutting to size) this covers whatever sprocket sizes you decide to use. A GSXF rear sprocket and an old Katana front sprocket. I used a Bandit front sprocket spacer to bring sprocket further out. I used 2mm washers on rear to align things. Currently using a 17/42 set up with a 150/70-17 rear to counteract the slightly low standard gearing. Quote
Gsx1100er Posted October 9, 2025 Author Posted October 9, 2025 cheers, thats good information. I'm running a 180 tyre , thats why I have an offset front sprocket so I need to do a bit of measuring. Quote
