Blue Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 38mm carbs apart from spacing are the oil & water model carbs the same? Can I use a steel powerjet carb in a bank of plastic powerjet carbs? Quote
Joseph Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 The carburetor bodies although looking very similar are not the same in fitment/directly interchangeable. The difference in spacing isn't only down to the spacers, there are a couple of differences in the casting of the main bodies. It can be sorted out using a file on certain areas of the WC carbs Quote
Joseph Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 (edited) IIRC these protrusions don't exist on OC carbs, and interfere when trying to mix and match Edited September 2, 2025 by Joseph Quote
Blue Posted September 3, 2025 Author Posted September 3, 2025 (edited) Thanks, so is it correct that the ones with the steel pipe to rubber are oil cooled and the plastic are water? Edited September 3, 2025 by Blue Extra info Quote
baldrick Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 These are oil cooled ones, if it helps Quote
Blue Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 Thanks Baldrick, it would appear that both the metal ones and the plastic are oil cooled. WC didn't have the powerjets. The metal ones being the early ones. Quote
baldrick Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 you do realise that they do nothing, without an airbox? 1 Quote
Blue Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 (edited) They do nothing in the uk as the jet is size 0 from factory 1 of the pilot jets is stuck & blocked so I'm looking for a no.3 body I believe the bodies are the same except what Joseph pointed out Edited September 4, 2025 by Blue Added more info Quote
