Guest MOTOFLY Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 Hello Boyz, I am new & this is my 1rst post !! My older brother ( 24 ) "in '78" purchased the '78 1000E new in the Sping of '78, I was a 15 & used to swipe it once in a while, lol. Well,47 yrs. later I now own it & am going to "Cooley" it up, within personal parameters... It's now disassembled & on the bike lift. Qustions: Been looking & can't seem to find a 4 - 1 YOSH Exhaust? Also, who offers the best big bore kit - 1260 ect... I'll be adapting a few '2000 say what now!? 600 parts, I.E.. Swinger, Conventional Forks, & a possible mono conversion & the Rims. Yea, I should stay with 2 shocks ?? Seat is restored stock, with front dropped a bit. "Black Engine" & "Red" Paint scheme. Oil Cooler.. Carb input ??Thank you for reading & would appreciate any & all suggestions & resources !! Quote
Fazz711 Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Hi welcome to OSS. Good luck finding a Yoshi for a GS. Stick to twin shockers Quote
DeegzARG Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 You might want to look into this Ripple Rock/Hindle exhaust. It’s a beautiful piece and might be pretty comparable in performance to a Yoshi pipe. best Carlos https://www.ripplerockracers.com/product/suzuki-gs1000-hindle-stainless-steel-exhaust-systems-to-fit-1978-80/ Quote
BigT Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 That Yoshi exhaust went out of production in the mid 89s. The Delkevic is supposed to be a copy A GSX 1100 aluminum swingarm is a direct bolt in, retains the dual shocks and can handle a much wider wheel. 1100 is as big as you can go on big bore without lots of modifications. The go -to has been Wiseco Quote
bitzz Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 Another vote for the Hindle pipe. It is a 4>2>1 so it has better mid range than the Yosh. It's a quality piece... but you'd never know with that POS bike they have in those pics. (I can say that as that's my bike. It doesn't look like that anymore. They wanted a bike as stock as possible... that's what I could throw together. Lang said he needed the bike for 2 weeks... they had it for 8 months). All the "team america" bikes that went to Philip Island had Hindle pipes. If you're doing "big bore": The Yosh kit is superior to the Wiseco kit (better metalurgy and 1mm GSXR rings)... IF you can find one. Most modern forks are WAY TOO short, I ended up having custom tubes made, but older conventional of the right length and a drop in cartridge works. Converting it to mono shock may look cool but it won't handle better unless you do a bunch of frame mods. Lay down twin shock works just fine. Any wider wheel and you're playing with chain alignment (IIRC use the GS500 cush). 1 Quote

There's a guy in Australia who sells sleeves for a very reasonable price. https://www.rpengines.com.au/sleeves/ JE can make you the pistons. Quote
