Kztom Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Hi all, Just been given a 1978 Ts250 project, free. The reason it was free was my father in law bought a mint ts250 to relive his first bike sorta thing. And it came with a spares bike. Which he gave me because he couldn't be arsed with it. It's a rolling frame, with 2 dismantled engines and a shit tonne of spares. There's no documents with it apart from a tax disc holder with some old plates still inside. The reg on the tax disc is correct for the year of bike, and it was last taxed in 2009/2010. But.. the reg doesn't show on a MOT history check, or reg check with DVLA, nor does it show on any of these 'TEXT CHECK' places. The VIN is clear on the frame and not been touched. So, how would you guys go about applying for a V5? I was going to just go through the v62 form, but with the reg not showing up anywhere it's making me wonder why, because 2010 isn't exactly long ago for them to delete it.. I've just sent off for a new piston and put the bits in a box to send off for machining to the new piston before I realised it's not worth fucking about with if I can't even get it on the road. Any ideas lads? Cheers Ps, anybody got a fuel tank or seat for one of these fuckers, let me know. The only bits I'm missing . 1 Quote
DAZ Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) This question has been asked a few times , I am lead to believe that a dealer can hpi check a bike from the vin/frame numbers , or possibly an mot test station .... but if you've got the tax discs and old number plate I'd give the applying to the DVLA a go Edit: just realized that you probably meant tax discs when you said plates ... Mmm try a dealer hpi your bio says West Yorkshire , try Nick at Jordan's in Leeds if your close by he's always seemed decent enough to me, worth asking the question anyways Edited April 19 by DAZ Addition, correction Quote
TonyGee Posted April 19 Posted April 19 all is not lost, IF for any reason you can't get a reg number you can still put it on a Q plate to get it back on the road, its just a letter at the end of the day. Quote
Dezza Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Contact the VJMC. They may be able to help retrieve the original number . 1 Quote
graveltrapexplorer Posted April 20 Posted April 20 i was given a dt175 a few years ago as payment for a job . it was a basket case no log book no tax discs but clear numbers on frame and engine. I got a reg for it through vjmc if memory serves it cost seventy quid . I had to send pics of the bike front back side and engine / frame numbers . Quote
Jonny Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Just fill in the V62 form with the frame number. Put in a letter saying you bought the bike without a V5 and don’t have the reg number. If it’s a uk bike it’ll be on their system. 1 Quote
