Blower1 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I've been thinking several years to build motorbike from the scratch. Now, when I left the working life I maybe have time enough. Idea is to build XR69 replica for the track days. I have already made tube bender and frame jig. For the frame tube I will use Docol R8 which I ordered from Sweden. Fairings are still slightly open where to get them. No one is making them here in Finland. I have try to get them from UK, but shipping has been issue so far. Engine will be 1296cc EFE . Brakes, rims, front fork, etc small things are still on the shopping list. 6 Quote
LLD Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Cool project ! What geometry are you going for ? For bodywork try Hifibre in UK. I ordered my race Katana set from them and it was not too bad in shipping Quote

Blower1 Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 The first bends done. Docol R8 tube is easier bend what I though and my home made bender is making really nice bends. I´m surprised, I was afraid that I fuc#ng up fine material with home made scrap tool. 5 Quote

Blower1 Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 Not so much visible things done. Making frame is time consuming work. Anyway all the tubes and engine lower rear fasteners welded. 11 Quote
dupersunc Posted April 17 Posted April 17 That's good progress, these things take a lot of time to do properly. Quote
Blower1 Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 (edited) I started drilling the engine mounting holes into the frame. I had to use my imagination to get the holes as parallel as possible. Edited April 24 by Blower1 9 Quote
