Bow Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Morning folks. do any of you knowledgeable folk know how to identify the difference between the gsxr1100 and bandit 12 carriers please. I normally use Bandit wheels in my builds, as most are Bandit based. But I have a shiny pair of gsxr11 wheels that are going to be dragged out the parts hoard, and go into my build. But need to go through the sprocket carrier box and identify the correct one for the job. I know the Suzuki part numbers are different, as I’ve checked the parts catalogs, and there is little in the way of identification marks on the carriers. Any help greatly appreciated as always. Quote
clivegto Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I seem to remember a lot are interchangeable people's even fitting GS500 one's as there narrower. 1 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Many years ago I was told buy an “expert” that gsxr wheel were significantly lighter than B12 wheels so I bought a set and fitted them to a B12 without weighing them using a B12 sprocket carrier. All worked fine later I took them out and weighed them . Not a farts worth of difference But it alL worked fine, and I’ve got a gs 500 I used to make a B12 wheel fit my Harris as, like Clive says, it’s much narrower, but as it turned out, too narrow….. when im Home and I get a minute ill dig them all out and have a look 1 Quote

fatblokeonbandit Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I meant the oil cooed, the water cooled bandit wheels are 28 mm spindles so don’t fit anyway.. Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted April 6 Posted April 6 The mk2 bandit straight ones I weighed ages ago were almost the same as mk1 ones 1 Quote

Never mentioned water cooled bandits, but i get it was confusing The straight spoke rims on the wc gsxrs and bandits are identical, and weigh a few hundred grams less than the oil cooled GSXR rims Edited April 7 by Joseph Quote
Bow Posted April 8 Author Posted April 8 Wheel weight is not an issue, combination of lightweight chassis, 1216 high comp motor, and not a lot else of sprung weight bar my fat arse sitting on it, means weight will never be a problem. i just needed to confirm my suspicions that i could use any of the sprocket carriers i have here, as my research came up with different part numbers. And I want to use the blingy shiny bits , as I have a lot of shiny bits going into/ onto this build. thanks guys, I’ll do a bit of measuring, and look see Quote
Upshotknothole Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Only difference I've seen is I've come across straight spoke wheels with 5 bolt sprockets and 5 cush drive cushions vs the standard 6 bolt/cushion setups. Wasn't sure what it was off of as I got it from a friend and gave it back when I realized I didn't have any carriers that fit it. 2 Quote
