Probably lost the bolt and just glued the cap head In To stop the oil coming out, rest of the engine looks in remarkably good nick for a 28,000 miler, hopefully no more surprises. next sump off and check oil pump suction strainer for crap 3 Quote Link to comment

fatblokeonbandit
removed oil pressure switch and istalled pressure guage filled with oil linked the oil cooler ports with an hose i made up and wound it over, 35- 40 psi manual says between 40 - 60 psi at 3000 rpm so thats good did compression with a crappy push in guage all about the same but couldnt get accurate readings, ive ordered a proper adaptor to screw it in. DAZ
Looks like you found a good one , not owned by the stereotypical " I'll warm it up by revving it to 5k to impress the neighbours..... " Quote Link to comment
TonyGee
i hope the gearbox is good !!! my B12 has 29.000miles on it and the 3rd and 4th gears sounded like they where grinding and 5th whined like a bitch found a good used box but still had to replace 5th drive gear with a new one as it had marks on it all back together now, its a really smooth and quiet engine. problem is do i put it back in the bandit (bandit has my other engine in it atm) or put it in the GS 1000 frame ? fatblokeonbandit
I heard it running but couldn't ride it, but the bloke whos bike i took it out of was certain there were no issues with the box, I replaced this engine with a power screen motor for him, thats the only reason its been removed, ive seen the MOT history as well so im as confidant as I can be its kosher milage 1 Quote Link to comment
