1981 GS850GL vs 1982 GS850GL

Can't find a lot of readily available info on this, but I have a 1981 gs850gl, and looking to get a donor bike. I know there are some differences between 1981 and 1982 but not sure to what extent. Can I get away using a 1982 as a donor bike for the most part?

I think the main difference is the body work, tank and tail piece

Cool! I did some more research, and I uncovered that the 81 model X and the 82 model Z are very similar. I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Thanks @wraith:)

what about differences between '81ModelZ [vs.] '82Model Z ? They gotta be close, I can't find a difference other than '82 model year (to include late '81-Z) has the kickstand warning light and a single horn [vs.] dual horns(pre-82)
