Oil pressure switch.

Is anyone able to tell me what ohms range the standard Suzuki OEM oil pressure switch work on that is in most oil cooled engines?

I can't run my engine at the moment to test but I would like to hook it up to my race technology Dash2 if possible or an input on the microsquirt.

Haven't ever actually checked it but I'm 95% sure it's just a switch. So it will only tell if the pressure is over the switching threshold or not.

I wonder if there is a switch the same size and thread that reads pressure and when calibrated to either dash or ECU that can tell me what PSI oil pressure I'm running.

There are oil pressure sensors, sure. I don't know what's the thread there so can't say how easy it would be find a sensor that fits. Typical threads on sensors are 1/8" NPT and M10x1. But probably a bigger problem is length of the sensor, most of them are too tall to fit inside the cover. So it's probably better to leave the switch there and install a sensor somewhere else on the oil circuit.

While its 'nice to know' type information, unless you are using it for a safety engine shutdown on loss of pressure, its a bit of overkill - these engines very rarely suffer from low oil pressure and when they do, the bottom end is usually scrap anyway.

I don't believe I have the provision to shut down the engine with this ECU but I can have an alarm on the dash when the pressure drops below x.

The only best place is to run it off the main oil gallery sure this had been covered before anyhow using a m16??? With npt adapter this is oil temp sensor

My turbo oil feed exits there so I'm going to have to look at other options. I'm good for temp sensors, have one in the sump.

It's a switch in the normally closed position so when there is no oil pressure it's a closed circuit and oil pressure light is on. When oil pressure builds, it opens creating an open circuit and light turns off

What about an inline fitting like

I was looking at those, the thread for the sensors is correct but the thread on the other ends is BSPT instead of NPT. 

On the right path though. 

This looks like an option too.

Why not just wire the factory switch up to a brighter bulb on the dash?

Not using the stock dash and idiot lights. Factory switch is just a threshold, I'd like a pressure reading for both fuel and oil.

Worked it out for oil pressure, this between the back of the engine and the head. If that doesn't work I can go oil feed to turbo which would be a good pressure reading to monitor. 

These sensors will do the trick for both oil and fuel.

I think that has my perverse need for data covered.
