Is my Crankshaft Repairable?

I bought my GSX750 with a blown engine. To recap, one of the tappet adjuster locknuts had jumped free - and found its way into the cam chain. Chain snapped etc.

It’s been a while, but I have liberated the crankshaft and I’d like you guys to take a look and see if it is repairable. Two teeth are broken, they are on directly opposite sides.

im sure a specialist could repair it but at a high cost, better to find a good used one.

Ditto! A welded repair would need heat treating but with a cast steel crank not so easy!

Can't it run like that ? It's missing two opposing teeth but should be held constantly enough by the rest ?

in theory yes, ive seen them run for years with teeth missing with no problems, but if it was mine i wouldn't be able to sleep at night worrying about it

If it was mine I’d really want it right.

However… an unscrupulous seller would put that back together and I very much doubt you’d ever know.

Have to ask yourself, what caused the breakages and could it happen again if reinstalled? It may work ok but another break could cause catastrophic damage!
