I decided to mock the subframe up in 3mm aluminium, (had a old road sign on the scrap heap for years) it only needs to support the side panels, back light and maybe a oil cooler as the main frame has a good subframe for the seat. Also used a bit of 15x50mm flat bar I had. If I'm not happy with the strength I will get some thicker stuff to remake it. Did someone say you can't cut round corners with Mr Grinder. :DIMG_20221218_140227.thumb.jpg.f385c3ef199f80e6203232a619048b81.jpg IMG_20221216_105624.thumb.jpg.5150b7af24c7ca43ef1e55edda3dc556.jpg IMG_20221218_171254.thumb.jpg.fde28f979eb850d65b7e7c816d7b303f.jpg IMG_20221218_171849.thumb.jpg.c02666ec6f02a15d41b1005c4f7437ea.jpg IMG_20221218_171906.thumb.jpg.4d3870b9a0dd9ba88aabba011f38fe30.jpg IMG_20221218_171832.thumb.jpg.b07fcb4b8d21616ec6e4490918a78b0e.jpg IMG_20221218_172314.thumb.jpg.c6590fc6bae33288cfc921d7f5a73e7a.jpg

If you intend on fitting an oil cooler in there, it may be prudent to first take some measurements from the intended cooler (or similar) before you decide on the final width between the subframe spars. Are you putting the battery in the tail too? From memory, those frames leave much space under the tank, easily enough for a large battery, and that was with the much larger air cooled engine fitted.

Haven't got a intended cooler yet I might not even fit one in the seat unit but the spars are as far apart as is possible which just happens to be the distance of the old mounting points on the sides that were not in use when I got it. It's got a battery box under the tank which I plan on reusing. :tu

Got another rgv250 seat in loads better condition than the one I had so had a play about with prototype seat mounts this afternoon without altering the original frame. Am happy with the riding position and tank mount accessibility so this might be a go. Also picked up some FZ1 wheels yesterday which look like Marchesini wheels. :banana:IMG_20230205_172610.thumb.jpg.c9a97f3cc09d22661014964bd05000bd.jpg IMG_20230205_173037.thumb.jpg.5add889bc78fe7a687877af786468dbb.jpg IMG_20230205_172705.thumb.jpg.590b9579b6dcd9ba57e55f8f8d994802.jpg IMG_20230205_172636_1.thumb.jpg.664ee2a1fad1ee54be5515514d3b8853.jpg IMG_20230205_173248.thumb.jpg.db2a58cb9e2d3ffe06f574f2368fa371.jpg IMG_20230204_140437.thumb.jpg.f0ff2e371f7b315c79e4fea21b4b2c96.jpg

It sits on top of the existing subframe and bolts on. Now the 400 subframe isn't the same as the rgv one but it's close. Had to move the seat loops and the bolting points for the rear of the plastics. Just have to trim the front of the panels but am happy with it at the moment :DIMG_20230212_162141.thumb.jpg.fb9065fcdcb44b4bbc228d1d213134ef.jpg IMG_20230212_162232.thumb.jpg.c52b337325a8869c5f98c6af4564de46.jpg IMG_20230212_164103.thumb.jpg.474186c30b72e190a612de1ab754b34a.jpg IMG_20230212_164143.thumb.jpg.fd2cd3ed311c22cc05aa637af254693e.jpg IMG_20230212_164159.thumb.jpg.93409de831e94ad2bb8bee4c3cfd4f46.jpg IMG_20230212_164211.thumb.jpg.c1b17df1623eaf2f5ed580053b1c7c9c.jpg IMG_20230212_164331.thumb.jpg.5357cb76bb4e83980750740870536a7b.jpg
