Dezza
I have some unusual corrosion on the inside of my 1100 slabside cam cover. I was wondering if these are made from a magnesium alloy. Usually if this is the case it has it stamped on the part, unless the part is for a bona fide race bike so this is why I am asking. Thanks for any comments in advance . Quote Link to comment
wraith
I was of the understanding that the slaby cam covers where made of magnesium, and that's why they are lighter than the slingshot and bandit covers. But like most things I could be very wrong 1 Quote Link to comment
Dezza
It doesn't seem that light to me, although I haven't got one from another oil cooled bike loose for comparison. The 1100 slabby covers are I think unique due to the lack of the removable breather thingy on top so are lower than other covers. Quote Link to comment
davecara
I was told by a welder local to me that he couldnt weld a crack in my spare cover because it was mag alloy, so I'd be inclined to say yes! 1 Quote Link to comment
clivegto
Yes the 1052 cam cover is a magnesium alloy mix. 1 Quote Link to comment
