H Beam rods for B12 turbo

Recommended Posts

Ive bought what I think are a real serious rod for my B12 build for less than £190. They come with Genuine ARP 2000 bolts.

I've seen these in high powered VW 20v Turbo engines and thought I'd give them a go.

I'm going to run a set of forged pistons when I can work out what CC I can afford! Can I get 1246cc on standard barrels and liners?

Comprehensive video. He seems to have done a bit research. On the face of it, they look good and, for the money you can’t go wrong! I’m sure there was an article in one of the monthly mags a few years ago, about using these rods in a racing Katana engine. He was very impressed with build quality and price.

You can go to 1246 but liners are getting a bit thin, 1216 is the ideal capacity.

There are quite a few people have been using these rods in turbo bikes and from what I can gather they are pretty good. Just worth buying some actually genuine ARP bolts.

Thanks meany, would that be 81 or 82mm as I've been offered both? As for the rod bolts I probably will for another £80.

81mm mate.

Hard to tell in the pics but the bolts look suspect at best to me. Dont think ARP would stamp maxspeed badly onto there bolts. £80 is cheap for peace of mind

As meanbean said above I would go 81mm 1216 on a turbo engine as the cylinder pressure is going to be more.  I ran 1246 on a bandit motor for a few years no probs but that was before I went turbo...

Pistons are the weak link to start with along with the clutch...

Thanks. Im just gathering parts because I want to get the motor in and running first. Compression ratio is the next decision. I'm considering 9.5 -1 (standard) to keep it nice off boost.
