better clutch

my clutch basket is shot on my 89´ engine. does any one has suggestions for an cheap, light weight and strong clutch solution?

Best clutch plates to use is genuine Suzuki.  Wasting time and money on anything else.

The OP is asking about a 'whole clutch' upgrade not plates - read the query!

Unfortunately clutches are fairly individual to each engine although some parts may swap with some fiddling. If you have engineering / machine shop capabilities later model clutches can be adapted but its not straightforward! It may be worth getting a new basket 'hard anodised' - it won't cure the problem but it should help lifespan.

89 is that the last 1052 or the 1127 or are we on the 750 engine?

If you have the gsxr1127k you can put the 1052 slab in, have a look in Frankenstein pages on how to  but when it comes to clutches no matter which one it is they are never cheep.

1052 slabby basket has different tooth count to a 1127 slingshot basket.....

Then what was the swap using a 1052 clutch in the 1127 ?

I DID say READ Frankenstein pages didn't I or are we getting a bit petty

You need the 1127 slingshot basket, with the 1052 inards, this is generally considered the best mix of stock parts.  1052 parts aren't cheap though as they are sought after

Doesn't help if you have a fubared basket though.

SNT do a billet alloy basket that they rivet to the 1127/1157 primary to take gsxr1000 plates, hub and cover.  This is not cheap either.

Cheapest, reliable solution good used 1127 slingshot basket and new oem plates.

Isn't there a swap for a modern gsxr 5 spring clutch, I thought you did this swap @wraith

There's one involving k1-k4 GSXr600 parts I think, still needs a good 1127 basket.

It's for a b12 clutch  as @dupersuncsays gsxr600 k4 hub and outer plate (thing the springs go in  don't know the name for it before some dim wit gets a big head because they know a name ) into b12 basket, then you can convert the b12 to a spring clutch.

i was referring to the inner hub and pressure plate being the same as slabbie items for coil spring conversion
