GS1000 After market fuel tap

Recommended Posts

Gents,

I'm after a new fuel tap for my GS1000, OEM = $$$$$$$$$$

I  found an aftermarket one, but it's pretty cheap, I don't trust that too much.

Anyone who has experience with aftermarket fuel taps?

I also found one for a GS1000G, but that doesn't fit mine, I moved my tap in between the head and the carbies.

Thanks

No, 'pattern' in an automotive parts context just means a replica of the OEM item. And as we all know pattern parts can vary widely in quality from 'total shit, waste of money, what's the point of making something that is useless' to 'better than OEM.'

The tap I used was for a completely different bike. I just answered the OP on experience with aftermarket taps per se:)

They all have a Vac, plus how did you disable yours?

Took the rubber thingy with piston out, replaced that with rubber, and put a bolt in one of the holes, if I remember correctly..

I spose the downside to doing this, is there's no off position?

Yes there is. It works like a normal tap, just without the vacuum.

I must say, like a normal tap if you do it properly, mine drips when on the off postion...

No, more correct to say - 'like a knackered tap with a fubar'd washer - it drips when off.' A good tap with a good seal don't drip - eg. no Pingle i've had / used has ever dripped . . . . . . . . leaked at the tank joint - yes, dripped no! LOL!
