  1. It may have been linked previously, but the wonderful you tube algorithm produced a slide show of aircooled beef from a channel with a few old skool suzuki vids Look for user name: bl1gh7y I'm sure some kind person will create a clicky link but I can't figure it out on this tablet....
  2. I'm sorry its taken so long to get round to writing this first `race report' , but life has been a bit hectic since that debut at Santa Pod Dragstalgia event . The night before the meet , I couldnt sleep........running through everything about how to ride a stocker in my mind , over and over...... I signed on to run the RWYB on the Friday , pushed the bike the 200 yards down to the start area.......and nearly collapsed ! The paramedics took one look at my slightly gray face , and dragged me off to Bedford Hospital , where chest Xrays , blood tests and CT scans kinda happened.....so no track time for me Saturday was a bit better - got it on track , to the start line , pinged the clutch out - and realized I had no idea what I was doing , it was all happening so fast - feet wouldnt find the footrests , thumb wouldnt find the shift button , bike wouldnt go straight........all part of running a new bike , and not riding such a beast in far too long......all resulting in 11.7 at 117 . Nothing broke , so not too bad I suppose Next pass was a bit better - 11.3 , but still no MPH at the top ? One final run for the weekend after a few clutch and chassis changes , and it left the line OK , straight and hard , no shift problems , but no power from 3rd gear on - felt like it ran out of fuel , too small a tank breather was my first thought . It di run a 10.67 , but only 107mph. I have since taken it out at a RWYB to continue testing - first run with a larger tank breather found the missing power , and promtly fried the clutch Bung in a fresh set of plates , next run a wire fell off the right coil.........new bike blues And then , just time for one last go..........bingo.....9.50 at 137mph Gearing is a little short - I did try for another gear , but there was non left.........and it went right a little off the line , not hard to fix , but things are heading in the right direction for sure
  3. Hey all, Over the last few rides, downshifting from 5th to 4th gear has been increasingly stiff. The actual gear change is ok, but I've had to push harder on the gearshift lever to shift. Sort of a tight, resistance to movement type of feel. Shifting up thru the gears is fine, clutch adjustment is good. In a wishful thinking / check easy fixes move, I had a look at the shifter pivot and linkage today. All fine there, other then some wear / slop. Nothing was tight or binding. Next was off with the sprocket cover. Shift shaft looks ok and no signs of problems where it passes thru the cover. Then the pooch screwing began. I removed the retaining clip for the shift shaft. I had read in the past the past that if this clip was taken off to NOT push in on the shaft. I didn't, but I did pull on and it moved approximately an 1/8 - 1/4 inch outward. Unconcerned, I gave the seal, etc, a look and put it back together. Shift shaft washer / clip back on, Sprocket cover back on, linkage on, no shift actuation...... I'm assuming the shift gears in the clutch housing are no longer meshed. Questions- what should I look for as the cause of the initial stiff downshifting issue? Regarding the shift shaft screw up- is it just a matter of pulling the clutch cover and clutch basket off and resetting the gears / spring? Any insight is appreciated. Glen.
  4. Noticed this while going thru some old parts. Dial doesn’t match the shock setting.
  5. Was told about this yesterday and couldn't afford to let it sit. 1986 30,000 miles. Original Northern Ireland bike, wee Harris pipe, starts first crack, runs nice, just needs a good tight clean and service.
  6. can some one who has one in bits tell me the size of the bolt thats on the oil cooler pipe bottom of the front of engine
