  1. Thanks for the reply. Really looking forward to watching this one come together.
  2. That green is WILD. Could you help me with a question! When these motors get put in harris frames do they keep the antivibe engine mounts on the front or are they replaced with a solid mount? Thanks.
  3. its finished all painted seat covered etc just got to sort out the fueling! just! Ill put a pic of the finished bike on when I get a chance I'm pleased with how its turned out, cost a lot more than I thought though.
  4. Hi, I have been playing about with a gs750 gl for a couple of months! Its a import 750 shaft drive with cv carbs. A good friend of mine started a trike project with it, gave up and then let me have a go! I don't do trikes so I cut the back off and made a new subframe, fitted twin shocks (Bonneville) and after paint and rebuilding forks brakes etc its time to get her running. With pod filters and my home made stainless 4 into 2 exhaust the fueling is way out. Has anyone on the forum played with one of these before? How do you guestimate what pilot and main jet would be somewhere near? Any help would be appreciated.
  5. I am playing with a GS750GL unfortunately its not as standard as yours. My brother bought a Gs750 like yours about 30 years ago........cost him £750 for the bike and a rider policy with Norwich union cost him another £750! Good old days! Your gs looks in really good condition............a lucky find.
  6. Too cold to work today so took the cam cover off a GS750GL I'm modifying! The tacho drive broke off when I tried to gently remove it so had to take the top off to push it out. Bloody gasket seems like its glued on.........two hours later with a scraper and a hoover and its still not all off! Could anyone tell me the preferred method to put the new one on without the same happening again.
  7. looking forward to seeing this in one piece, even pre paint.
  8. Like the build, I would have to sell the missus and a kidney .................... Would you mind measuring the frame tubes! I'm interested to know what diameter tube Mr Harris uses.
  9. I would be interested to see a pic of your frame jig. I Have been looking at the jigs that Wasp use and pictures of the Harris jigs too.
  10. When I pick up the motor I will have to spend some time picking your brain........if you don't mind!
  11. That's good to know, I havnt started the bike yet but will go steady for the first few warm ups!
  12. did you sort the problem? was it a bad earth?
  13. After talking to a fella in the VJMC at donnington last year I have painted a blasted gs750 engine with smooth hammerite spray! He said a friend of his did a Kat engine about 10 years ago with the same and it still looks mint. Time will tell.....................................
  14. Digital speedos do some nice headlights, different shapes and sizes and outputs. They deal with a german company Paaschburg and wunderlich so see their web site!
  15. Hi, I have been thinking about building my own frame for some time You know what its like, you think it all through and try to find answers to tech problems! So........here goes...................................................... I am leaning towards a Hossack inspired front suspension arrangement, mostly straight tubes of T45, Bandit motor. Frame tubes of T45 but what material should the frame junctions be, the ones that take the bolts through the engine? If bright mild is ok then what do you weld them together with, I will Tig the lot together, would A15 filler rod hold it together? Any input would be gratefuly received.
  16. I must try bronze with the tig myself, keep up the good work.
  17. I bet youre glad you didn't scap this one. A real classic.
  18. They do some nice stainless shapes in the cook shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. What turbo are you using? I really like the look of a draw through set up. Sit that motor in front of the TV, something good to watch for a change!
  20. how are you getting on with this one?
  21. Has anyone removed the air fork arrangement from a gs850 or gs1000? I have a jap import gs750gl shaft drive with missing fork tops so would like to replace them with a standard cap. Could I put a spacer above the spring perhaps? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
