  1. Stuck the new shock in today even popped in the NOS bolts I bought and never bothered fitting when I originally rebuilt the smoker. Pick with big bro in the background
  2. Thanks mate ,the few I've found are silly money and even the brand NOS from Suzuki are ng as the bump pad is discontinued but I bet you know this already so I've given up and will replace the tail section with a race unit instead when I find the right one
  3. Feeling weary from yesterday’s track action, so while the sun was out thought I’d give the new bus a once over just to see what isn’t right. Other than age related stuff everything looks ok,stripped off some dodgy stickers and gave the paint a clean and polish. The decals on the tank are knackered and some muppet has stuck a tank pad on with glue that’s fooked the paintwork but other than 30 odd years of wear and tear it cleaned up ok. Set the sag front and rear and had a nice surprise it’s even got a brand new YSS rear shock . Other than giving her a good service and junking the standard cans I plan to ride her this year then decide whether to turbo or race prep it for next year.I’ve got some brand news discs kicking about somewhere so if I change them I’ll either put the polished wheels in out the ET or get these ones powder coated. I blame @Wee Man I hadn’t needed one of these until I saw his bike at the last dyno day it’s took me this long to find one that matches the smoker that wasn’t stupid money
  4. Cheers @MeanBean49hopefully a retorque will sort it,otherwise I’ll be in touch,appreciate the offer
  5. First test of the runt blandit preseason today at Mallory. It was dry for once and the runt ran the best it has since 2019. Quick check at the end of the day and a slight weep of oil from the head gasket and the sight window has started to leak, hopefully a retorque of the head bolts cures it and a probably need to replace the sight window before the leak becomes a flood
  6. I’m at Mallory and all ok so far
  7. It will get ridden this year a bit to find any faults then will either become next seasons race bike or road bike turbo project.... not decided yet but won’t be a restoration job
  8. It’s done on trust only hoping we keep to the spirit of the rules which we try our best to do
  9. No that specific it states Mk1 must use Mk1 parts Mk2 parts can’t be used and vice versa, they do check engine numbers at each round though to make sure we’ve not stuck a slabbie engine or 1200 blandit one in
  10. I think@davecarahas a teapot he’s breaking maybe he can assist
  11. I can’t confirm this for certain but remember when I briefly owned a teapot it was engine code N702 my race blandit mk1 is N712 so should be the 12th version of that engine.I can remember the top breather came out the back of the cover rather than the left side but cosmetically it looked very similar if not the same as the blandit engine.I’m sure one of them experts will arrive soon to confirm
  12. Nice surprise from Nitron today, the proper shock that I paid for 2 years ago, great customer support and service. Need to fit it when I get time to check the current ride height before I swap the original 18” wheel for a 17” off a VJ22 that’s been in the shed for a while now
  13. Nearly a year and I shamefully dragged her out the shed, stuck a new battery on and with a bit of help from some brake cleaner into the air filter finally kicked into life Managed to get her ticking over...still don’t know what to do with her, priced up the cost to covert into a race bike and it’s not affordable for me so need to decide what’s next for the future...keep or sell...who knows, that’s a decision for another week.
  14. Stuck some fresh oil in,did a bit of lockwiring and changed the rear sprocket for Mallory. The dog helped by nicking anything I left on the floor
  15. Adjusted the valves, tightened the down pipes as they were blowing a wee bit after the last race of the season, then a quick carb balance. Just need to drop the oil and swap sprockets ready for a test at a track day at Mallory Park a week on Monday.
  16. You need to ditch the standard footrests etc and fit after market with a proper shift rod set up,that’s what I had to do with my smoker
  17. Tank off today, changed the air filter and cleaned the fuel filter plus stuck on a new lever protector to replace the broken one.Serviced the genny too
  18. A cold day in the garden workshop today but still managed to knock a few jobs off. Brakes back on and bled up,swapped the old master cylinder for a non suzook one. Checked the sag front and rear, did the calculations and need to make a couple of 10 mm spacers to get the front end right. Added some preload to the rear that’s now spot on,will sort the front end next weekend as I’ve got jobs to do on the smoker tomorrow. Then only need to set the valves and change the oil before a test day at Mallory at the end of the month.
  19. A bit of good fortune today if you can call it that, I took my 2 year old Nitron R2 shock out for a preseason service. Rang my suspension man to book it in and he asked for the shock details and said see you tomorrow. Half an hour later he calls me back to say that shock you’ve got is the lower model R1, so for two years I’ve been running a cheaper shock than the one I paid for....bugger.I rang Nitron thinking they would fob me off, they asked me to send a picture and serial number on an email.I thought they wouldn’t do a lot, less than an hour later they rang me said they were sorry for the 2 year old error and are sending a courier to collect it and will now build me a brand new correct spec shock, bloody brilliant result good old fashioned customer service.
  20. Brake parts arrived today so stuck the new seals and pistons in ready for the weekend
  21. Another day another job ticked off.Forks out stripped and rebuilt with Ktech linear springs to suit my weight.20w oil and air gap set, already feels loads better. Just need the brake spares to turn up now and the front end is sorted.
  22. It’s ok mate it’s only a water footprint so the boss won’t tell me off
