  1. So block arrived, must be 78.0 bores as my dials show, will get them measuted more accurate and start finding some pistons and rings. Anyone has some Wiseco, MTC or JE part numbers i can feed google with ?
  2. Made in USA does not neccessary mean a good thing all the time, i know that too. Engineering wise, i rather trust manufactureres from this side of the pond as well.
  3. Hi folks, what´s the biggest bore you can do on a GS1000 engine ? Reason for my question: Seems like i have bought a block bored out to 78.5mm -- but without pistons. Seller claims they fit cases without modifications, i will need to find suitable pistons and rings though Anyone knows what pin size are stock GS rods - and can they handle pistons that size ?
  4. ahh - seen that too, oil pump blown apart. whole engine rebuild time then....
  5. I boght mine from Talon. But was Aluminium

Yes my uncle has the same problem with APE at the moment....
  7. just run a spacer plate under the block
  8. that might be the kit i bought- with a disassembled / shot charger unit. I recently bought a replacement Fageol charger, which is in very nice condition though, and as other projects allow i can begin to assemble the lot.
  9. As the title says..... Would like to get some experiences
  10. Congratulations to your new S ! I have 3 of them S versions too, and a standard GS as well !

Dont tilt that carb like that. Unless you wheely all the time...
  12. i´m no engine building expert - but that sounds nonsens to me ! on a multi cyclinder engine, you try to have equal power output of each cylinder, which you will not have if running different compresion ratios. The heat is controlled through carb jetting
  13. ?? what do you mean - the engine had different compression ratios on the cylinders ?
  14. No one knows what manufacturer they might be ?
  15. Seems we were wrong - they seem to be quite hot cams, i compared them to standard, and they have a decent increase in lift. Also compared to yosh stg II gsxr1100 they are pretty interesting cams. Just would like to know who made them ?
  16. yes, looks brownish, but this is due old oil for conservation. i also thought that these were quite tame....will have to check them against some yosh cams.
  17. Digged through some parts, and came up with a set of reground GSXR-Cams i do not have any info on. Maybe someone here knows what they are, and has a spec sheet. They have the usual 27A IN and EX markings on them, but are stamped on the side with the following: 12048 2 95 cam base circle is 26.80mm on both IN and Ex, Base circle and lobe lift are 32.80 IN and 32.90 EX, so that comes to a lobe lift of 6.00 (.236 inch) and 6.10 mm (.240 inch) Is there any formula to calculate from cam lift to valve lift ? Because all info on the web i find is based on valve lifts, not cam lift.
  18. always these decisions......Big CC numbers, and then decide what do do with it, natural aspiration > big valve head with lumpy cams with revised valve springs. Or i spare the costs, stick with std valves and go with a turbo to overcome the obstacle of small valve area, just add HD valve springs. Or i win the lottery, and take both, and shit my pants when riding it then. I think, i will first dig through all my collected parts to see what i will come up with.
  19. Yes, came up with the same results while checking online catalogues. It´s actually quite funny, to mix´n match different parts, but i try to stick with OEM parts, and maintain a budget on the modifications. Maybe you can fit valves with slimmer stem, when you also change the guides in the head - but i guess this is getting expensive then.
  20. @no class: good info here - much appreciated ! Are there some known stock Suzuki Bikes which have these valves 30/26 as standard - or only aftermarket available ? Like pistonwise - busa in b12 etc.
