  1. You get used to it, as Tony said it's just the way they are.

When I had my first one back in the early nineties I thought to myself what the hell have I bought but you don't really notice once you have gloves on.

I called there yesterday as I only live a short distance from Anglesey circuit seen a few oss bikes circulating including Brian. A fantastic turnout by all involved and great weather to greet you all. Thankyou for showing up and being part of the success.

SAT NAV ?! I remember going to the French GP at Magny-Cours in '92 with nothing but a few notes on the side of a packet of Woodbine and the sun to guide us. Only got lost 12 times and had to turn back at the Spanish border twice, them were the days.

Bloody youth of today don't know they're born. xD

I'm with you on that one @bluedog59back I the early 80's about a dozen of us set off from North Wales for Donnington park one Saturday evening to watch an 8hr endurance race the following day, no fucker had a clue where it was but we soon found out that it wasn't in Donnington Shropshire!!!

Eventually arrived at our destination around 1 in the morning and looking back it seems that technology has taken the fun out of being totally lost, happy times we had and as a bonus most of us survived those great days.

  5. Managed to get hold of a top cover on its way to me.

Thanks to @redgs1000 in the true spirit of oss he has very generously donated one FOC, I do hope he doesn't mind me making this public but I personally feel that great gestures of this nature can't go without a mention.

    thanks @redgs1000(y)

Yes! Got it out on the road today. Started up third kick after having done a fair bit to it. Did a quick run into town to get petrol. Great fun!

I found one of the generator coils was open circuit, so fitted a new pair from Rex's. Also the flywheel taper on the crankshaft was damaged, but managed to dress it off with emery then lap the flywheel back on.

Had a wait fir some parts: throttle cables and master cylinder rebuild kits are hard to get!

Was great to finally get a few miles in, although taking it easy as it has a new piston and rings on one side.

One issue to sort is a nasty scraping noise from somewhere....I'm hoping it's just the chain rubbing on the chainguard. I can only hear it when slowing down with the throttle closed.

Great to see that you're getting out on her, you'll get plenty of attention off old timers like us :D

Thought you'd still be under 4ft of snow that far north but not to be. Hope you get to the bottom of the scraping noise and it's not too serious.

Just took the fuel cap apart and cleaned it , as yet I haven’t had time to go for a ride. Some time ago I bought a new set of rs36 carbs but I’d like to solve this issue in case it’s something else, then I’ll change the carbs and rubbers .

Why the reluctance to fit the RS36's, if they're doing nowt give em a go that way you'll get the answer either way.

They are bonded together! When you think about it, that is the only thing stopping water getting inside - its understandable!

I get the need for a seal but this seems impossible to separate. On the other hand I've never heard of one springing a leak.

Dab of quality silicone would do the trick but good ol' Suzuki wouldn't make money by selling the complete upper case I suppose.

  9. That would be much appreciated bud, thankyou.

It seems impossible to separate them so I give up.

If you pm me a price and send your preferred method of payment I'll send it over along with my address .

    Thanks again(y)

  10. I have a set of EFE clocks that has cracks in the perspex. Have any of you learned folk out there ever attempted  separating the perspex from the clock body, have tried all manner of ideas but no luck.

    Any ideas pls?

Sounds like the previous owner took nostalgia to it's ultimate conclusion and actually applied a 17 year old's mindset: buying a set of expensive noisy exhausts (that probably have zero performance gain) in preference to fixing all the fundamental problems with the bike first (y)

Nowt wrong with a noisy set of spannies Dezza.

I prefer the look of the standard wheels, i have a pair of J/K Slingshot wheels spare but i like the older style wheel, and they are fairly light too. One converted to a 4.5" rim is the plan its just what effect it has on gearing and ride geight with the lower profile 160 tyre

I too am a fan of keeping the look of the standard EFE wheels with a wider rim.

I've mentioned on this site previously that I'd seen some at Stafford a few years back on a couple of z1300's and they looked like they'd left the factory like that, whoever did the mod it was very neat job.

Hey,  thanks again to everyone who answered graciously. Im not ashamed to ask. Btw Gixer1460. Your correct, I wouldn’t know anything about measuring. Im a Toolmaker by trade , so it does escape my abilities. Ill work on it before asking questions going forward. Thanks for the response.

If I possessed your skills mate I'd just make everything myself.

My late uncle was a toolmaker at a local factory, I sure kept him busy. Was gutted when he died.:$

Sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong.

The photo below is a complete loom I made up to replace the Bandit 1200 or GSX 1100  loom using an M-Unit blue. At its thickest point it's about the size of my little finger a Bandit loom at its thickest point is three times the size. The replacement loom covers every single function that the Bandit loom did. As an example of what's been replaced, all of the wires which ran from the bar switches have been replaced by a single wire. There are no longer any relays, and all the wiring to/from the fuse box have gone because there is no fuse box.

When you also add in the extra functionality that comes with it (pulsed brake lights, hazards, BlueTooth, immobiliser etc etc) the difference between the old an new is night and day.
