  1. It would be much appreciated if someone could school me on lock up clutches. I've looked on the interwebs and found a lot of info but pretty conflicting at the same time. Are they suitable for street riding? Which is what I'll mainly be doing. How different is it's use from riding factory clutch, any specific DOs or DONTs? Can you pull in the lever to shift when you're on the throttle? Is a lockup necessary or are there other options? I don't mean to be so green on this, but the most I've ever used/needed was HD springs. Bike is a Bandit 1216 turbo hoping to hit around the 200hp mark. I appreciate any clarity I can get on this.
  2. I agree, I tend to like to over build the engine because I'll most likely want to turn it up or go bigger and if the engine is already setup for it, it's one less step/cost. I've looked at the rods as well, to avoid using a decomp plate. If rod length is 117mm, is there any issue with a shorter rod say 116 or 116.5? Only thing I could think of would be piston getting too low on the cyl wall and availability.
  3. Starting to pile everything up for a turbo build on my mk1 bandit. I have a spare mk2 engine that I plan on building for the task of around 200hp. I found MTC pistons, after an email they directed me to the gsxr1100 pistons. Are these any better than just getting a set of used hayabusa pistons? Looking at the 81mm x 59 "turbo" pistons the comp is stated to be around 10:1, with them being for a 1100 is that number accurate seeing how they'll be in a 1200? Any issues with fitment as they're not specifically for a 1200? Little in the dark on this one as I'm used to buying pistons off the shelf and not sourcing from different engines. Thanks
