  1. Never tried it but a 17" might go in. Will need different calipers with adaptor plates to make them fit I would think.
  2. Welcome. Nice GS that. GSX was a bargain!
  3. Welcome to OSS. What's you plans for it? Got two myself.
  4. That's going to be a nice build. Keep the info coming
  5. Finally got to the bottom of my charging issue. New Electrex RR fitted now charging at 13.8V, but lights still dim. Stripped every connector, cleaned pins as best I could and sprayed with contact cleaner. Still the same. Wiring mod had been done, all three generator outputs feed into RR. Cleaned frame and engine earths, still not right. Friend said it would be the battery. Was skeptical as it's not too old. Swapped nearly new battery off my other ET, and guess what, no dimming of lights. So problem was battery, even though it holds a charge fine. So all sorted. Thanks all for your suggestions and advice
  6. Great build thread, looks great and the wire wheels are awesome.
  7. They can vary a little but 227 to 230mm seems to be the norm in my experience.
  8. On my to do list for next week. Thanks for advice. Will do the wiring mod if not already done.
  9. Glad to hear that's not the end of the GSX's exploits Max, I've enjoyed following this thread as a previous GSX750 racer
  10. Thank Arnout. I have three yellow wires from my generator, electrex unit. I can find which two come from RR though and join the third wire to the RR. Why do they run that wire through the lighting switch anyway? Thanks for the info, hope it solves my problem.
  11. Anyone know how to bypass the switch?
  12. Cheers Arnout but didnt see your post until after I ordered a new Electrex one. I'll look at your suggestion if I need another one. Thanks
  13. Thanks for your help guys, sounds like a job for a rainy day
  14. Better strip body work off and check everything. Will run temp wire from battery to frame and engine, see if that helps? Cheers
  15. Still not right. Rode in the dark last night and headlamp was poor. Pulled up to my garage and when engine at tick over it got bright again. Rev it up and goes dim until engine revs drop. New Elextrex reg rec fitted so would hope it's not that? I'll have to recheck generator output to see if that has failed. Charging voltage at battery with engine revving is 13.8V. Any ideas
  16. I'll order a new one tomorrow then :-) Thanks all.
  17. Finally got chance to check to ET using AC on the meter this time (did say electrics not my strong point ). Output from all three generator wires is 80V+ at 5000 rpm or higher, so think that's okay. No charge across battery terminals though, although voltage does rise slightly at around 1200 rpm but drops off after that back to battery voltage, so assume it's the regulator/rectifier that needs replacing. Would this be right?
  18. Think the GSXR parts were off an 89 K model.
  19. Thanks I'll try again tomorrow with meter set properly.
  20. Cheers guys I'm crap with electrics. The generator and regulator rectifier were replaced with Elextrex unit about 8 yrs ago, so not oe parts. Not sure what my meter should be set on for ac? This my meter. Should it be to right for AC? Cheers
  21. I have a 5.5" rim in mine with ally arm. Gsxr wheel, bandit carrier and use gsxr rear caliper and hanger. Fits goid but you need to make spacers.
  22. My battery has been going flat when riding so thought I'd better check it out. With engine at 5000 rpm checked voltage across all three generator wires. Nothing on volt meter, zero volts between all leads. Thought this should be high like 80 volts. Am I checking it wrong or is the generator fubar? Advice would be appreciated. Cheers
  23. Great video, takes me back to racing my GSX750 with the Earlystocks, funnily enough running #230 as well.
  24. This the adaptor plate to connect the oil cooler to the filter housing. Can give you dimensions if you need them. I lent it to someone who measured it up and was going to reverse engineer some, but can't think who it was now? You might be able to weld two bosses to the existing cover and fit adaptors for the hoses?
  25. Here's the oil cooler. Uses a special adaptor plate to replace the filter cover.
