  1. Check the numbers on the cams, if they are the same as the f cams great if not look out for some f cams You've done a great job on the g you won't think it was a g
  2. Very true, I do like the look of a gs1000 motor and they sound great but good parts are hard to find and costly these days but saying that the gsx11 is going the same way but you already have a gsx or two
  3. If like you say the g cams are the same as the f keep them, really good all round cam. You could go for a set of gsxr750j/k cams that are a good high rev cam but you will lose the mid power to get the high fast revs. PS we need more pictures of this bike looks interesting and I do like a under dog build
  4. Give or take they will be both summer, I think the gsx is slightly higher but not by much and you get more hp with the gsx. You can shave weigh off them old skool ways, remove the foam from the sprocket cover and cut some of it out/drill holes put a geny and starter clutch on from a smaller bike. I remember YJ doing this on one of his gs1000 build's and he even drilled holes in all the cooling fins on the head and barrels.
  5. Quite agree. My bike bench has came in for not just lifting the bike up
  6. The good old days when you could pick up one of these motors and put it on your bench. Now my back starts twinging just looking at a oil cooled motor never mind a air cooled one
  7. Get a side light bulb (in the holder) connect it to the wires from the ATU back plate and turn the engine over by the starter button, if it's working the bulb will flicker as you turn the engine over.
  8. Anything between £50 to £400 depending on condition etc
  9. Are you getting a pulse from the ATU on the crank?
  10. No, you can only just get it on a GS or gsx headstock.
  11. Yes they will, they only problem with the RF9 bottom yoke is the stem is quite short
  12. Just try plugs in the cylinders that are not firing right. Had this with new NGK plugs many times, I now won't use NGK plugs.
  13. Sump off, then you can see more inside the bottom end then wash out as above
  14. Why the question? Have you a problem with it not opening fully?
  15. What's the plugs look like after you started it up, is number 2 plug wet or dry?
  16. Remove carbs and give them a good clean and check settings, if it's been stud with fuel in carbs there will be all sorts of things need doing in there.

    Engine ID

Them top rear engine mounts welded on ? Should be bolt on. I'd say it's a gs1100g frame, has it been in a accident? Maybe the frame is twisted?
  18. There should, if it's not came off a number one the body of the carbs. Do you know if they are 36mm or 38mm ?
  19. We all do it just to pi@s you off
  20. I've got a gsx750f on a b12 engined bike
  21. I've seen it done but not down it, I'm told the Triumph swingarm is very wide and needs a lot of work to get it to fit.
  22. Just be careful with the one that are only a tab sticking out them ones can break
