  1. Ok all, Going round in circles here, been told (on here) the gsx750/1100 has a neutral/gear position switch that is 35mm diameter where the rubber seal goes but everyone I ordered has a 25mm diameter? Can someone say the year and model that has the 35mm diameter? Thanks
  2. Yes, jeep or MR2 (MK1) are a straight swap
  3. Hello and welcome to OSS. Don't know what the exhaust is but sounds like it's running lean, so going up to a 120 main will be a good starting point.
  4. Yes it can be done to change the shaft drive to a chain drive but and it's a big BUT You need to do a lot of work on the top and bottom crankcases you have to change and alter the output shaft, then sort new size bearings and seals. It can be done but unless you can do all the work yourself it would be cheaper and easier to buy another gs1000 chain drive engine.
  5. Would that work on a 1127 or just the b12 ?
  6. And didn't the gs1200ss run 32mm carbs instead of the 36mm ?
  7. Got a DOT head on my b12 powered gsx (gsx1157et in the project section) I had to raise the rear of the tank to clear the carbs tops with the DOT head. If you are looking for more toque than top end power, stick with the b12 cams or keep a eye open for some gsx1100f cams (but are like hen's teeth) DOT head will help with all over power and toque but for what you get and the carb bit you have to think if it's worth it. A 4° advance will give you a better throttle response, so as they are just a bolt on bit no harm in putting it on.

    Carb tuning

Looks better and looks like similar tap as I was going to use. As to jets, the sizing between the Dyna jets and Mikuni jets are different so don't go mix and matching them ( I've used Dyna jets for years now) but you should be able to get ever from Grumpy 1260 or Suzuki Performance Spares or of course Dyna jet themselves if you want Dyna jets
  9. Coming along nicely

    Carb tuning

Had the same problem with gs550 with oil cooled engines, I found the gax1100f tap gives the best clearance but two problems. 1. It's only on or pri 2. The bolt hole spacing is different. You may also find the standard tap won't feed enough fuel for the b12 carbs. You may need to look at a Pingle tape or for us who don't like spending that sort of money and on/off washing machine tape may even have the one I was going to use on my gsx1157et project, if I have your more than welcome to it

That's one hell of a cam chain you've got hanging there As to the tank, raise it up by about 10mm and you should be ok.

    Carb tuning

I think we need pictures of this bike Carb tuning all comes down to how good you are and your understanding of carbs, and time V money. Dyno jet kits and alike can get you somewhere near the right spot or depending on how fussy you are a nice ride but will probably need a bit of felting to get it just right. Otherwise you are looking at time, carbs on and off changing jets or money, paying someone to do it on a rolling road. I've had two bikes with jet kits, one a gsxr1100k that V&M couldn't even get right, so went back to OEM parts. The other is my kat with the powerscreen motor and 38mm gsxr carbs, I got a Dyna jet kit but ordered it off the Dyna office in Rochdale (I think) told them what set up I had and they sent a kit with 3 different main jets in just for that bike and apart from running slightly ritch at bottom end (pilot jets) it was pretty much bang on first time. If you wanted just to try main jets I'd look at starting with 125 to 135 main jets (Dyna jets) I know that's a big difference in jets but it can make a big difference on filters and exhaust and end can to how it could affect your jetting. Done forget the pictures of the bike

    Fuel tap

Just to double check, the slabside had just one fuel outlet and the slingshot had two fuel outlets. Mine is the two outlet type

    Fuel tap

Is there a difference between the gsxr1100k and the 1100 L/M/N taps ? And if so how do you tell them apart. Sorry for the bum question but can't find the answer on the net Only reason I ask, is because one on the bike needs a seal kit and I can't remember which tap it was, as it was over 20 years ago when I got it
  18. You can get the clamps new on Eblag with mirror threads (from china) for about £7 a pair
  19. Hat number 2 in the ring Engine, pictures would help to say if it's a strip down or just cover gaskets but the only engines that will swap without to much messing is a gs1000g or gs1100g (2v) but both of them you will need the shaft drive for them as the knuckle joint have a different hole spacing, you can use the 850 exhaust on both and 850 carbs carbs will fit (CV carbs) but you will need to do a little bit of jetting for the different size of engine. As to the battery, check your earths .

    Carb tops

I believe it's rear top mounts to make and alter the fixed front one and make a new other side one. The tank needs to be lifted by about 10+mm to clear the carbs. When I did one with a gsx750f motor it went in nicely but with the b12 being a bit taller. The one I did with the gsxf motor is one of them bikes you with you never sold.

    Carb tops

No, I've not got anywhere near any of the bikes nevermind the project bike still doing house stuff I did find some gsx750f carb rubbers on flibay but there's not much difference with the b12 rubbers I've got as spares APX 3-4mm but that would do the trick. Still got to get to the box of carb bits as it's behind a load of wood to check the gsxr1100k carb tops and springs I know are in there. I do need to get back on to the bikes soon as all this house stuff is starting to drive me up the wall, in more ways that one and I've even started looking at doing a gpz900 with zzr1100 motor or a z650 with a b12 motor, so I must get back on to the bikes before i get another project
  22. Can't help but it's been done quite a lot in the past and some on here have done it, so hopefully they will be along to help. The gs1000 or 750 look cool with the gsx1100 engine in them We will need pics you know

    Carb tops

Yes got the b12 tops. Also got the gsxr1100k slides and springs. Also got some gsx750f intake manifolds. Just need to find a bit of time to have a play
