  1. Thanks Dezza that might be a good option as the pingel has a thick adapter plate that bolts on first and is about 12mm tall. If a boss could be welded into the tank all that clearance would be regained, although I wouldn’t be able to use the bottom but if fuel in the tank but only 10mm or so. yes I mean the oil feed, doh the drain is on the front. thanks captain chaos that’s a much cheaper option, I haven’t actually had the engine out as part of my fettling so it shouldn’t have changed but if I can use the play in the mounts to tilt the motor a tiny bit that might do it, I’d be that bit closer to downdraught carbs too :-)
  2. Years ago (convinced I was suffering from fuel starvation at the top end) I fitted a pingel high flow tap to my gsxr750f it’s running a gsxr1100m engine with a 1216 kit. it all seemed to fit and I used it like that for a few years. But now I’ve had the bike apart to do some light restoration, it won’t go back together ! the bigger pingel fuel tap fouls on the oil drain line take off on the back of the rocker cover as it’s higher up due to bigger engine. the only way I can see it working is to lift the tank by about 15mm at the front and back. I don’t know what’s changed but there’s no way this will fit even though it used to! Anyone got any tips for fitting the bigger pingel taps in a cramped 7/11 slabside ? I thought to go back to the oem tap but it might not seal as you have to drill out a round hole for the pingel and also I sold it on Eblag years ago and can’t find any original ones for sale that don’t have the vacuum bit.

    Wrong ignitor unit

Thanks that’s great to know, I can cross it off my list of bits to find.... and start thinking of other ways to up the power
  4. Hi guys, I used to run a gsx1100f motor in my 750 slabside but then I built up a 1216 gsxr1100m motor and fitted that, I used the 1100f ignition unit just to get it going, with the intention of getting hold of a gsxr1100m unit.... that was almost 15 years ago and I still haven’t gotten round to it. But I’m wondering, would it make any difference? Am I losing some hp in using the gsx1100f ignitor with a gsxr1100m motor ? thanks,
  5. That’s a great suggestion would never have thought to try thoes, do you have experience of fitting them on a gsxr1100 motor ? They look as if the gsxr1000 barrels and head are a lot more angled forward than the old oil cooled one
  6. Hi it’s great to see the site up and running again, I used to be a member on the original site and it’s was a great resource. i have a gsxr750g with a gsxr1100m engine (and 1216 kit :-) ) I put it together years ago when I was a poor student and so was always on a tight budget, I think the exhaust I used was a scorpion 4-1 for a 750 and I had to bash it flat a bit with a hammer so it would fit under the sump. I’d like to update the exhaust, the bike still has fairings and looks reasonably standard so I was wondering if I could fit an original exhaust (perhaps take the baffles out as I don’t run an air box) but does anyone know what would fit right with the 1100 exhaust ports sitting higher in the frame than the 750 should I fit an 1100 standard exhaust ? But will it be too long and have the can sat too far back ? what sort of systems have people used for a 7/11 slabbie? thanks
