  1. So I’m now looking to change the rear shock out on my slabbie 1100

ive read about doing a swap with an r6 shock that’s relatively straight forward.

having discussing this with a friend of mine who races r6s he replied I have one that’s never seen action as it came off a brand new bike in 2017 to be replaced for a race shock.
struck a deal obtained said shock.

Having now compared this shock to my stock slabbie shock

the bottom mount is completely different and is too short anyway.
    the question is.

is there a bracket that needs making to make this work or have I got the wrong shock?

  2. So I’ve been abit quiet for a while on here I’ve been busy with other none oss projects but I’ve managed to get on with the slabside abit.

i was going to run clip Ons and an endurance style fairing but I just couldn’t get on with it so back on with the drag bars and a pair of cibbies .

ive added a pair of triumph 6pot callipers and wavey discs too and I’ve been back out and about on it

I've got  91 750 m front on mine , slingshot wheels, and a sus  linkage from funkymonk Mark

    Works nice

How did you get on with ignition barrel clearance to the fairing mounts on the frame?

because on the L front it hits.

  4. Thanks for the advice all.

ive managed to acquire a 750L frontend as that’s what budget allowed. I’ve polished the yokes and got it mounted I’ve decided also to run clipons and restyle the bike in an endurance style. I’ve got a janky old fairing mounted on the wall in my shed I’ll slap that on for now just to see how I get on as I’ve only ridden streetfighters for the last 6/7 years if I like it I’ll tap up Mr Fibreman for new fairings and make it look pretty.

Only if you have a 4 into 1 collector limiting your ground clearance.  You will probably be safe if you have a 4 2 2 or a 4 2 1 setup.

Is that to go with the 1000 front end ? I know the 750 slingshot fronts are shorter but the 1000s seem considerably shorter?

@SiBagposted some excellent USD info in the general chat section titled USD fork info. Check it out, good stuff.

Thanks for the tips, my mates running k2 1000 front end on his slabside reckons it rides well. They just seem a bit short so I didn’t know if that would be a hinderance

  9. Morning all.

this is my daily ride 1100 slabside with a 1127 in it. The other day the fork seals blew on it and I’ve taken it as an excuse to maybe upgrade the otherwise soggy front end I’ve been looking into options of maybe running progressive springs in what’s already there or converting to an upside down set up I’ve stumbled across a complete 750L front end ?

just wondering what other people have gone for and what might be the best option before I start spending money?
    thanks in advance Steve

    hi and welcome to OSS.

which ignition  pick-up is on the engine (behind right side crankcase cover)? 1052 has double pick-up, the Slingshot has a single one. You need the one matching the cdi unit, which I think is a Slingshot 750 one.

I might have an 1127 pick up would that work?

Thanks  I’ll post up progress when there is some

    B/W from cdi to sidestand/turn signal relay/starter relay/left indy/stop & tail light.

o/w from cdi to coils/RH handlebar switch

    W from cdi to coil

    B/Y from cdi to coil/tacho

Black/Blue, Yellow from cdi to signal generator

    Black/Red from cdi to tacho

    Note 7 wires on 750 1988-91

Thanks the problem I have is that not only has the plugs been thrown in the bin but they’ve also cut out a lot of the original wiring and replaced them with all red or all black wires so nothing makes sense, what I’m after is something like top left terminal on the cdi goes to coil etc ?

I’ll have a check tomorrow I know there’s 2 wires come back from the pickup to the cdi I just don’t know where they’re meant to plug on to it

  16. Help I’ve just bought a 750 slingshot with a 1052 in it and someone in they’re infinite wisdom has cut the plugs off for the cdi unit and thrown them in the bin then put a shit tone of odd coloured wires in with blue crimp connectors on for good measure.

i need to know what wire goes where from the cdi unit. I’m hoping someone has been here and can tell me the sequence or know someone who can.

I’ve got some pictures of the cdi unit here.

    thanks in advance Steve
