Thanks for that, I've got a feeling I've got a bandit caliper and hanger in the lockup now I think about it! Do I need to use a Bandit spacer with it? If no one knows I'll report back tomorrow night when I dig all the bits out!
-
Hey up all, anyone know of an alternative caliper hanger to use in a slingshot? The original one seems to be like hens teeth. They are available new from Suzuki but I'm hoping an alternative one is a straight swap and much cheaper!

Mablethorpe contender

I've not been on her in a while, however, I am a mabo beach regular on a Suzuki 450 in the unlimited motocross class, I was 3rd in the championship last year. Are you still racing? I'll be there Sunday! -
Yep, that looks pretty much the same as mine, mine has an extra brace upright half way along the arm but other than that bob on. Adjusters and spindle look the same as mine too. The lads from Spondon said mines a Spondon arm so its a pretty safe bet yours is too. Got any pics of the frame side of the conversion with the tank off @vizman?

Just spotted this post @minx@vizmanthe one in the pic in your original post is different to the one in the pics you sent me. Yours looks the same as mine, the one above has square section where ours is round, the eccentric adjusters are a bit different and the spindle set up is a bit different. The one above is for sale at the moment in a facebook group and the owner says its a Dresda swingarm conversion. I've started a new job and they haven't got any work for me yet so I've been involved in some fairly extensive googling, reading old posts on here and buying stuff on Eblag.

I cant play the video as I'm on the work computer but give me a shout tomorrow and I'll have a listen @El Gringo! No Vale Speed for a hang out this week so you'll have to host.

Not like my mate did, cleaned the area to be welded with brake cleaner then handed it to the welder who sparked straight up on it. Quite a bit of fire off that.

Thanks for the info @Dezzaa few lads who worked for Spondon stayed on a Norton, I had an ask round them for some confirmation on what they did. Handy as I was a chassis design engineer for Norton until a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately my frame is at least 10 years before any of them started at Spondon. I think A ducati 848 shock will do the trick for length and stroke, not sure about spring rate but I can swap the spring out ok.

Have you been running it on the road too? Everyone raves about the drivability of blow through set ups, how do you find a draw through? They defiantly look cooler!

I've only just spotted this as I'm reading loads of stuff as I haven't got any work to do. I rode in DQ this year in the Hooligan class on a Krazy horse customs Indian scout. I normally help with the marshaling of the event though and ride in the DTRA flat track national championship. Dirtquake will be happening again at Kings Lynn, under the rule of North one productions, Sideburn have also run DQ USA and Snowquake (an ice racing event in the Italian alps, I rode in that in January). All of the events and some more too will apparently carry on. If you just fancy a go at the inappropriate road bike class, without all the dirtquake stuff surrounding it, the Scunthorpe run an Inappropriate road bike class alongside the Amateur speedway meetings all year. If you really hate your bike then Mablethorpe winter beach racing championship have a collection of road bike classes alongside the MX and grasstrack classes, basically if you turn up with a bike, they'll find you a class to ride in. Hope this helps some of you that fancy doing something daft @fatblokeonbandit@SiBag@Sheep@Wescooley19@zedhead

YAY! Cant hear it from my house so it cant be that loud.

Thanks for that @clivegtojust the info I was after. My de carbon one seems to be 10mm longer than the EMC. I think I'll get the front end in properlyset it up on blocks and do a bit of working out where the shock needs to be to get a decent front end angle and swingarm angle. Then I think I might be on to the shock factory thanks @yann7/11r

De carbon were French, I wonder of that's what they became. It looks like an early r1 shock will fit, just the spring rate that's the question I suppose.
-
With the early magnum cantilever suspension set ups. Is there an accepted normal replacement shock. I've got a Spondon monoshocked gs with a de carbon shock like the magnums did, same sort of layout too but it's about fucked. Any suggestions? Pics because who doesn't like another pic

Just spotted this, just as I needed it too!
