  1. The problem is probably that the wheel is too wide, both rim width and hub width. Most people use an early 4.5" Slingshot wheel with a GS 500 sprocket carrier with a 160 tyre. Swingarms are quite narrow.
  2. Just managed to fit swingarm and Hagon shock, so slowly coming on. Here are some pictures.
  3. Got it sorted now, I measured everything and there was only 4' thou difference between bearing and shaft. I got the shaft machined to fit bearing and all fit properly now.
  4. Hi Guys and Gals, I bought a JMC swingarm to put on the EFE, the bearings were in poor condition, so I bought new using the number on the old bearings. I have just tried to fit the swingarm to the bike, (new bearings fitted) and the front shaft does not go through the new bearings. The i.d. numbers are identical, and the old bearings slide on to the shaft with no issues. The bearings are imperial to fit the JMC arm, and internal diameter is 14.288mm. I am guessing that the shaft is 15mm, but am at a loss to explain why old bearings fit. I was thinking that the bearing centre has been machined to 15mm, to match shaft. Would it be possible to find a metric cone bearing to fit the imperial outer cup. I would think that as long as the bearing angle was the same, the outer and thickness size does not have to be exact to the last thousandths of an inch, as long as they are very near. The bearing will centralise when fitted, plus it is a slow moving item in use. Many Thanks Rob
  5. 1. I spoke to the powder coaters about the gold on the wheels. He said it was a non standard custom colour that he made up for me to brighten it up. He has some left if any one wants something in the same colour. 2. I want to get an EFE clutch cover powder coated, but I need to remove the oil level window and the clutch shaft in the cover as heat will ruin the rubber parts. Has any one got any tips about doing this please. Many thanks Rob
  6. I think that it is standard part Toni, I think that there is one on the other frame that I have. I will look properly next time down at garage I am renting. Not near where I live, may be tomorrow. I bought a rolling chassis complete and part was on there already, it was a while ago since I took it apart, so need to look at other frame.
  7. Hi Toni, not sure which piece you are referring to, top left piece is part of rear suspension linkage, bottom left is front engine mount bracket, middle right is alloy bracket which holds foot peg at bottom of the frame rail.
  8. Not sure of colour, I am seeing the powder coaters this week, I will ask. They are lacquered over the top of the powder coat. Powder coaters are 25 miles away.
  9. many thanks, much appreciated.
  10. The red is a light wrinkle/ crackle finish.
  11. Hi Guys, I am in the middle of refitting my loom on my EFE build. Does anyone have any photos of the routing please. I am unsure of the area at rear of engine by swingarm and by the headstock forward of the coils. Thanks for any help. Regards Rob
  12. Hi Guys, I have just collected all the bits back from the powder coaters for my EFE build. Here are some pictures.
  13. Size up both bottom bearings, you will probably find 750 one is smaller. You can get bigger bearing to fit if this is the case. Try allballs website.
  14. Hi Guys and Gals, here I am , waiting for all my bits to come back from the powder coaters. I have a decent condition Hagon shock to fit on the bike, but I am wondering if there is an alternative shock off a modern bike which would drop in and improve the rear suspension control. Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative, the Hagon shock looks a bit small for a bike this size and weight. I will download pictures of the powder coated bits when I get then back, hopefully by end of month. Regards everybody. Rob
  15. I do not know all you need, but think art are American company if that helps. 73mm is 1mm oversize for @1100cc.
  16. I was wondering if you could borrow a GPS cycle Speedo of somebody, you could also use a phone strapped to the bike to get a true reading. The other way is to get someone to follow you and compare speeds at prearranged signals and speeds.
  17. I was looking at the wiring harness on the EFE I am about to start putting together, awaiting last bits from powder coaters at moment. I see that there is a box under the tank which I believe to be a auto cancel box for the indicators. I would like to remove this as it seems useless for it to be there as I know to switch off my indicators. Is there an easy way to remove this, and how much else could I safely get away with cutting out of the loom. It seems sensible to make the wiring as simple as possible to try to enhance reliability and I would be willing to make a loom if I knew how much I could survive on electrically. Any recommendations would be gratefully received. Thank You ROB
  18. Love the drop yoke, very pretty compared to most. Would your mate do one for my EFE, I want to fit Slingshot 1100 USD forks and need to find some height in the front. Regards Rob
  19. Great looking bike, I am 58 and have just started doing a 1984 EFE. It is currently stripped and frame etc is at the powdercoaters. Hopefully going to start rebuild properly next month. Hope that you enjoy yours, are you going to the EFE Club do at Japfest at Santa Pod at THE END OF September? There are over 100 EFEs booked to go there for display. Regards Rob
  20. I have my EFE in bits at the moment, currently at the powder coaters. Hoping to be on road in May.
  21. I have a brand new uk tank for a et in that colour. Seems a rare colour as UK models seem to use a different red.
  22. There is a brand new inner case ( £54 ) and a brand new rear panel ( £30 )on Eblag uk at the moment.
  23. Many thanks for the input Guys, I have decided to go down the tried and trusted route of fitting 1100 Slingshot front end with slightly longer legs. I am not trying to turn it into a sports bike, just improve the suspension slightly. I realise that it can be a long and rocky road to make it as you want. Have booked ticket for EFEST at Santa Pod in September to give me a timetable. Thanks again Rob
  24. Hi Guys and Gals, I am thinking of buying a set of custom yokes to fit my EFE. I was wondering if I could tighten up the rake, the EFE seems to have a bit of a stretch on it compared to other models in the GS/GSX range, and was thinking that a slightly reduced rake would help the handling. I do not know the standard values for the EFE against the ET and bandit, does anyone know how the head angle compares to the other models in the Suzuki Oldskool range. I was thinking that a 2 degree steeper angle would probably help it handle better. Many Thanks Rob
