Dyno Chart Kawasaki GPz 750 R1 1982
The above chart shows the Zed halfway through its engine development . At the time the above dyno runs were done the spec was ; Std GPz 750 R1 engine , std mikuni carbs with a Stage 3 Dynojet kit fitted , separate K&N air filters and a Harris 'Works Collection' 4:1 system with a race baffle . The carburation was nice & clean , and it pulled really smoothly. Very little 'setting up' was required on the dyno. The Harris pipe suited the engine very well . The bike was approx 10 bhp up on std in this state. Later on I fitted the cylinder head ( bigger inlet valves ) and camshafts ( more lift ) from a later 'Unitrak' model , this brought the peak power upto 72BHP & improved the torque by around 5 ftlbs across the whole rev range. It was hardly the fastest thing on earth, but it didn't disgrace itself either ! It really sounded wicked !! Thanks to Craig Taylor of Dyno Torque (Birmingham) Tel. 0121 772 2453
