Frame: '86 GSX-R750G, modified subframe,
shortened swingarm, CBR600 wheels and fork, R6 calipers, fully adj.
shock.
Engine: Standard GSX1100F for reliability
and torque, Mikuni RS36 carbs and Nikko 4-2-1 exhaust for even more.
Bodywork: mutilated Aprillia RS250
fairing, '87 larger capacity tank, eighties GSX1100 seat unit; carbon
frontguard.
Performance: 141rwhp with Laser ProfRace
system and velocity stacks, somewhere around 136-138hp with Nikko
and K&N filters
Comments: too many mods to list here,
finally (kind of) finished in 2002

Owner:
Richard Bruner
Chassis:
1992 GSXR750 USD frontend set up by Lindemann Engineering, Nissin
brakes from the same bike with braided brake and clutch lines, a
Yoshimura billet top triple clamp, 3.5/5.5X17 wheels with 120/70
and 180/55 Dunlop rubber, the original white face gauges were placed
in a 1990 GSXR instrument panel
Engine:
1991 1127 engine, Vance & Hines timing advancer and exhaust, Dynojet
Stage 3 carb kit
Comments:
I tried to keep it as original-looking as possible. Most people
that comment on the bike don't realize that USD forks didn't come
on 1987 GSXR's. Only a few close friends know about the 1127 motor.

Owner:
Mike Paulus
Chassis:
'87 frame w/chopped subframe,
modified brackets for '95 rear suspension,
'95 swingarm, '97 front end, 3.5" and 6.25" PM rims. Yoshimura
carbon gas tank, tail by owner, rear sets by owner.
Engine:
'92 GSX-R1100 bored to 1260cc, 10mm lift cams, 40mm flatslides,
MSD ignition, Yoshimura pipe, and a lot more smaller modifications.
Comments:
Mike calls his bike his "Gap Beater" because in East Tennessee there
is a road that boasts 318 curves in 11 miles and that's where he
spends his spare time on the absolute edges of his tires and pucks.

Owner:
Marc Gervais
Chassis:
'91 GSX-R750M with Ohlins shock and Yoshi steering damper.
Engine:
'93 GSX1100F, Carbs and electrics from the 750 fitted with K&N's
and a Stage 1 Dynojet kit, 4-2-1 exhaust with carbon can, cable
clutch coversion using GSX600F sprocket cover, new (lighter) wheels
on the way.
Comments:
For a long time, Marc was "on top of the food chain" around
his hometown. No-one could keep up with his 7/11 untill one day
a predator in the form of an old lady who ignored a red light in
with her car proved to be on top of the food chain instead.

Let's
hope the guy on the Kwacker never finds
out Marc has more than oversize pistons.

Here
you can see where Kawasaki got the idea for the ZX-12's
RAM-AIR system (this one's quicker!) |
Owner:
Pat Chin
Chassis: '85 GSX-R750F, Fox shock, 3.5x17 front rim, 5.5x17
rear rim, 180 rear tire.
Engine:
'88 GSX1100F Katana, 38mm Mikuni RS flatslides with a quarter turn
throttle, V&H ignition advancer, Accel coils & wires, Muzzy stainless
pipe, Yoshimura carb heatshields.
Comments:
Pat's configuration has a close resemblance to mine (or the other
way around). I still wonder how my bike will handle, with the flexy
frame and torquey engine, and Pat says about that; "I personally
haven't noticed any frame flex, but I have not gone anywhere near
a race pace even on the track. On the street I don't know anyone
that rides hard enough to make it flex. If you're Kevin Schwantz
and race it you'll need bracing, if you're a mere mortal like most
of us you'll be fine...but please add a steering damper...". Pat
has previously owned a ZZR-1100, races a 146rwhp GS1100 (so he should
know about frame flexing) and is currently building an Eddie Lawson
replica from a Z1000J and various GPz parts.
Pat eventually sold his bike in favour of a TL1000S.

Owner:
Mike
Chassis:
'89 GSX-R750K, '96 1100 straight spoke wheels (the the lightest
zook wheels) '96 1100 6pot calipers & rotors up front, the rear
is stock '89 caliper with an '86 rotor & caliper hanger (smaller
diameter). 1100 fork tubes other than that it's all stock. D207
Dunlop tyres.45/15 gearing, probably going to go with a 44 with
my next chain. 60/100w barnburner headlight bulbs. Daytona oil temp
gauge (junk). Rear sets by Yoshimura. SS Brake & clutch lines.
Engine:
'89 GSX-R1100K, Wiseco 1186CC piston kit, gas flowed head with big
stainless valves, stock cams angled at 105/105, manual camchain
tensioner, polished & balanced crank & rods, Barnett clutch & springs,
all lower end bearings are 1 size looser. Using Mobil 1 full synthetic
5w30 oil. Yosh stainless steel race duplex pipe, 38mm RS flatslides...
soon to be trashed (see comments). the rest is stock 89 750
Comments:
Performance: 149.3 RW HP, 89Ft Lbs torque, Radar gun pass 166MPH
(fresh Break in). She should go a little faster in top now. I think
with the new carbs & gearing she'll go 170+. Planned modifications
(in about two weeks): 41 Keihin flatslides, yosh carb heatshield,Yosh
upper triple clamp in black. DID Xring chain (when I get my income
tax return ;-) Future plans: Fox shock with a stiffer spring rate,Yosh
oil temp gauge, Graffting on a SRAD front end with stiffer springs
(super light).
