Had this information
via Email:
It is a Suzuki GSX 400F (four cylinder 16-valve aircooled).
A very nice bike that was available in the UK. Originally available
in black or silver. my brother owned one from new. Can't remember
what year he bought it but it had only been out a few weeks and his
was registered as an 'X' registration. OFT 84X in fact.
Unfortunately the early models, including his, suffered from head
problems due to the sump not holding enough oil. Consequently his
top end went off with a bang 3 months into ownership.
Warranty covered it and it was returned with a larger Suzuki sump
(carried about 300ml more I seem to remember). Poor build quality
and finish meant that after only 3 weeks his black chrome exhausts
showed signs of rotting from the inside, again replaced under warranty.
It was almost as quick as a GPz550 up to 100mph and it handled very
well. I also seem to remember later models having updated paint scheme,
black fork stanchions, black engines and bright chrome exhausts.
Thought you may be able to use the info. [Oh yes
thanks! Webmaster Taff ]. Cheers. Lucky
