knarF's water-injection system

knarF, a member of the Dutch KatanaClub has tried our "water-injection system" and here's what he says about it...

Hereby I'd like to thank you for the tip about the water-injection on RN(S)
It has cost me €4,50 and one hour of work, but the difference is very noticable! The frontwheel got very light when pulling away in 1st, and I didn't even apply full-throttle. I never had improved something on my bike this cheap. To be honest I'm not that interested in a T-shirt and haven't got any pictures yet as I just built it today. I can recommend to try it to anyone. The assembly is a no-brainer and even if it had no effect (which it does) it's still a lot of fun to try these kind of things (at my first attempt the water ran into the cylinders and straight out of the exhaust)

The reason why the system flooded at the first attempt was that he used a container that was too soft. It compressed under the vacuum creating a lot of steam out of the exhausts though the engine kept running (Old GS's never die!). This is a good indication of how much vacuum is created.

He uses 25% spiritus (water/alcohol mixture) instead of pure alcohol to mix with the water, as spiritus is more readily available in supermarkets.

As you can see on the pictures knarF simplified the system to the bare essentials (the way we like everything done), tapping straight into the intake rubbers with 2 hoses coming from the container each feeding two intakes trough a t-piece.

Brilliant!
