Mr.7/11's
GP3 Seat unit by TRIK bodywork
It
all started when I got an e-mail from John "Triky" Betts...
"Hi, what do you think?... Will at Streetfighters recons
any seat fitted to a standard sub frame sits to low & looks
like a chop.
I do all sorts of kit & can send you more pics if you like,
I've put in one of my tank conversions (standard tank covered in
carbon & am currently working on a carbon/kevlar one to go with
the seat in pix (the one in gold & black) which is basically
an all carbon fibre seat unit with some carbon fibre/carbon kevlar
hybrid put in random places ( can also get this in black & red
kevlar weave instead of black & gold).
I did offer Will at Streetfighters a seat unit when he was begging
for parts at the start of his project but never heard anything back,
so if you like what you see please take the piss out of him for
me when you speak to him next.
Your site is f**kin brilliant & has helped me out no end so
if i can return the favor, just ask mate & i'll do what i can."
At the time Will (Wingnut) already had the RS250 seat unit
fitted at Steelheart Engineering, so to give a honest craftsman
a chance - not to take the piss out of Wingnut! - to show what he
can do I asked Triky to make me a seat unit for my 7/11.
After some more haggling I blagged myself a fully-featured seat
unit, including oval rear light, bonded-in brackets, a seat base
and
the LED-brake light from John's own bike.
A few weeks later, on my birthday, I got these pictures of my seat
unit, ready to be sent off.
It all sounds to good to be true really... a smashing-looking seat
unit made of luscious carbon fibre that fits the standard sub frame
and therefore won't mess up the ride height / cornering.
When it arrives I only have to drill the sub frame to attach it,
trim where necessary and cover the seat base.
More to follow as the seat unit arrives on my door step...
