Prototyping with Adobe Photoshop

Have you ever been wondering what effect a certain modification on your bike would look like without actually taking out the hacksaw and spanners? I faced the same problem when I wanted to know what the visual effect would be of jacking up the seat unit a few centimeters.
I know, I could have also unbolted the seat unit and support it with some wooden blocks, but then I'd have the subframe sticking out from underneath it, and by using the PC I could also try another style of seat unit if I'd like.

Robby showed me more than once what beautiful things are possible using Adobe Photoshop (you don't think his wheelie pics are real, do you ;-) so I took some scans of my bike and started editing.
You only need three easy steps to accomplish what I did;

Selecting the contour of the seat unit is very easy using the "magic wand" tool, just set the tolerance high and within a few clicks you've got it.

Then you can move the selection to the desired position. You will notice that the place where the selection used to be is white now.

You have to paint the leftover white areas using the "rubber-stamp" tool. With this it was very easy to copy bricks from the wall to other places.

Have a look at the result:
