Gsx1100ef 1984 horsepower

Do anybody know why 1984 is listed as having 114hp and 85 -87 have 124 hp?

Just aquired a 84 model

Pretty sure it was a change of cylinder heads made the difference

Though I might be wrong

10hp is substancial when we are talking stock ...... where did you find the info regarding the model years and are they accurate ? Most probably a destination country regulation .

I've also wondered a lot about this, without being able to find a reason.. Might just be a typo on the page? 

Edit: this page also states a 10hp difference, but between years 1985 and 1986...

Sounds like someone has their data mixed up. 1100 ESD is 114 and EF 124, both models would have been available new in 1984. The EF motor is 10 up on the others as it has a larger capacity, a different head (and the associated parts) and bigger carbs. Bikes for the swiss market would be well down on power but this would be a lot more than 10bhp claimed. Here an EF engine is an EF engine regardless of its year. People will fall over themselves to get one whether it was made in 1984 or later so just revel in its awsomeness and don't get hung up on numbers on a website

I have seen some fully original Canadian efe's with a esd engine....they Left the factory like that.

 

That combo could explain the hp and cc differences

Yep I wondered if some country variants had the ES engine fitted for the difference in power..
